About me
My name is Haruna Ito from Japan,and I'm 19 years old. I'm studying the English at English Language Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was born in Nagano prefecture, Japan, where the Nagano Winter Olympics were held in 1998. I grew up in small nice town, Hakuba, near Nagano city. It's summer and winter resort. People come to stay at villas to go hiking and camping, to ski, snowboard, and do other winter sports. There is usually 4-6 feet of snow during the winter, so I have skied since I was three years old, and also I had cross country skied for 7 years at a ski club, but I switched to snowboarding and I have been enjoying it for 6 years.
My Family
There are 6 people and a cat in my family. My father is a principal of an elementary school, and mother is a cook at a home for the aged. I have 2 older brothers and a older sister.We are living separately, so I miss my family because it's first time I have been away from my family, and also I miss my cat. She is 8 years old, and I'm worried about her health because she is really old.
My Hobbies
I like knitting and making hemp accessories. I make several knit caps, gloves, skirfs, and so on in a winter. I like handmade things so that's why I'm really interested in indian jewelry. I also love sports such as snowboarding and skateboarding because I grew up in snowy town. I'm trying Blindside 180. I'm a beginner at skateboarding, and it is much more difficult for me.
Education And Future Plans
I have several reasons for coming to the U.S. First, when I was high school student, I went Omaha, Nebraska, for 2 weeks. That was first time to visit the U.S. I stayed with my host family, and I enjoyed everything there, so I wanted to come to the U.S. again. Second, when I graduated my high school, I wasn't interested in going to any schools in Japan because I didn't have any interests except the U.S. and snowboarding. I lived in Denver, Colorado, for 5 months before I came Salt Lake City. I went to Spring International Language Center which is an ESL school, then I came to Utah to snowboard. However I found several interesting things here. So I'm going to go back to Japan this March, and then I'm going to go a college. I want to study something related to sports.
