'And seated a little apart was a tall man with fair and noble face, dark-haired and grey-eyed, proud and stern of glance...He had a collar of silver in which a single white stone was set, his locks were shorn about his shoulders. On a baldric he wore a great horn tipped with silver now was laid upon his knees.'

     Boromir is the eldest son of Denethor, steward of Gondor, and Finduilas of Dol Amroth. He spent many years leading the soldiers of Gondor against the foes of Mordor. He was the favoured son, with his younger brother Faramir being assigned a duty in Ithilien, which technically banned him from the court. Boromir and Faramir both have a dream, in which they were told to seek Imaldris, otherwise known as Rivendell. Boromir was chosen to seek the answe to the riddle.

     Boromir is appointed one of the companions of the Ringbearer, Frodo Baggins. He is seduced by the lure of the ring, and he tries to take it from Frodo. This leads to the breaking of the Fellowship, where Frodo and Sam head off for Mordor alone. Boromir dies defending the other hobbits, Merry and Pippin, from Urak-hai and Orcs. He fights valiantly, trying to redeem himself for trying to take the ring.

     In the movie Boromir is played by Sean Bean.

Seek for the Sword that was broken:
In Imaldris it dwells;
There shall be counsels taken
Stronger than Morgul-spells.
There shall be shown a token
That Doom is near at hand,
For Isildur's Bane shall waken,
And the Halfling forth shall stand.

 I tried to take the Ring from Frodo. I am sorry. I have paid.Boromir
