Dolly was the last of two kids left at home as Frank and Frankie divorced. She had a step dad named Bob Vielbaum and grew up in Morristown. She wrote, " I didn't have a very happy childhood, so I left home at a very early age. I went to California. There I met and married Albert Vassar from Oklahoma. I was fifteen years old when I got married. I was very young when I had my four children I felt like I grew up with them."
"I was always being asked if I was Lee or Sarah's sister and some times Lee was asked if I was his girlfriend.
We had a wonderful time all those years. I took my kids camping and hiking and swimming and motorcycle riding.
We had a place in Utah and built a little cabin in the woods. The kids and I spent nine summers in Utah. The kids say it was the best time of their lives. It was very enjoyable for me.
I have really wonderful children. My oldest son, Lee was a Nuclear Submarine operator in the navy. Sarah went to a computer training school. She is a very talented artist. Danny has his won business. He is a heavy equipment mechanic and I am very proud of him. He is a very loving sweet person. And then there is Dodo. She is the instigator of the family. Without her we would not have any excitement. She is always busy and up to something and full of energy. She is a very talented and excitable girl and I love her very much." from Belle's book, Movin' On
After her divorce Dolly remodeled old houses for an income. After remodeling
for a while, Dolly built her own house.
Dolly was a very gentle soul. She spoke softly and didn't like family
trouble, she was very sensitive and her feelings hurt very easily. She
is missed very much.

Dearest Mom, I love you so,
More than words can say. Though it seems not possible, More with every day. You've helped me through the darkest days,
And my goals I've dreamed of, Mom,
The thought of you not being there,
