Frank was handsome and intelligent. He always got A's in school. He loved to read and draw and wrote beautiful love poems. He had a dauhound named Napoleon. As a teen ager, Frank would drive around town with Napoleon sticking his head out of the car window with his ears flapping. He went into the Army when he was seventeen, (during the troubled years that Germany put up the Berlin Wall). As Frank loaded his plane to fly to Germany, Elvis Presley's plane was coming home from Germany. Frank spent three years in Germany. Frank's mom was always trying to find ways to try to get him home, she really missed him.
Betty (Harvey's wife) remembers Frank from the Morristown grade school. Betty said, " My childhood was very enriched for having known and been a friend of Frank Hastings. He was a good boy, honest, never fought or quarreled or said anthing bad about anyone. I never knew anyone who did not like him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was intelligent and a talented artist. I have never known a more handsome teenage boy."
He was working as a superintendent at the Moly Corp when he was killed in a car wreck Dec. 12, 1981. Las Vegas, NV
