J.I. was married to Dollie Prine Crockett.

Born May 26, 1886, on a farm called Stilson on Dove Creek near Knechbroocked, Texas. Her real name was Viney May, but everyone called her Dollie. She met J.I. at a church supper in Angus, New Mexico. They married when she was 16 years old in the 1902.

"Dollie was a good horseback rider and rode sidesaddle. While going out with J.I. he would take her to  church and dances on horseback. A lady that lived in Angus during that time said she would never forget Dollie come flying  down the road on her horse with little Frank Elizabeth on the back, riding like indians were after them.
