~Last Sunday, Ryan Arnolds (34-2) knocked out WBA 154-lb
champion Darryl Dempsey (28-1). It was a great knockout
after Dempsey completely controlled the opening round. This
past Wednesday the two met again for the WBA Title. This time
Dempsey did more than hold his own and knocked the champ
out in the 6th round to regain his title. It has been settled that
Dempsey-Arnolds III. will take place tomorrow!
~After canceling (or avoiding) his fight with undefeated WBA
Featherweight champion Yowan Nesior (21-0), Candon
Warner scored a 5th round knockout of Gerald McKinney
to improve to 32-0 with 28 ko's.
~IBF Middleweight Champion David Marshall (24-0) won
his second straight bout against highly regarded Sugar Ray
Anderson with a unanimous 12-round decision. Marshall
can definitely be a future star.
~Speaking of stars, Sedrick Marquez (28-0) relinquished his
IBF Super-Lightweight Title and moved up to win the IBF
Welterweight Title by flattening #1 contender Jermane Dale
in 36 seconds!
~ Former 2-time Welterweight Champion Richard Miller
won the vacant WBC Welterweight Title after a unanimous
decision over Lloyd Carver. Miller raised his record to
28 wins with 2 losses and 17 knockouts. Miller is now a
3-time World Champion.
~Luis Rodriguez regained a portion of the Super-Lightweight
Title by knocking out WBC Champion Allen Brooks (30-2-1)
senseless in the 2nd round. Rodriguez is 28-1 with 24ko's.
~Guri Leichi (29-0) retained his Undisputed Lightweight Title
by stopping #1 contender Thomas Fitch (21-2-1) in the 9th
round.
~Shane Robinson found out "guys hit harder at 154 pounds than
they do at 147" when he moved up to challenge Bouliv Pochae
for the vacant IBF Super-Welterweight Title. Pochae (25-0)
knocked Robinson out in the 4th round the capture the title
and give Robinson his first pro defeat. Robinson is a sure bet
to be inducted into the Cass Hall of Fame in the future and said
afterword he might pursue another title in the Welterweight
division.
~Olympic Light-Heavyweight Gold Medalist A.J. Perozo
was in search of his first world title when he met highly
regard IBF Light-Heavyweight Champion Ryan Stice.
Some questioned if Peroza was treading in high water
by fighting a champion of Stice's calibra this early in his
career. Perozo (18-0) proved them wrong by capturing
the title by a narrow and controversial decision victory.
Stice suffered his first pro loss in 28 bouts. Perozo said
his goal is to eventually win a title in the heavyweight
division.
~Tomorrow a huge bout will take place between the two
best heavyweight in the game today! Guy Mier (33-0)
will defend his WBA Title against undefeated Jarmon
Onesis (39-0-3). It should be a great matchup and we'll
keep you posted!
