Cover:  Mikel Lopez (41-0) vs Ryan McCormick (35-0) – Who wins?

The Super-Fight has been made, signed, sealed and delivered – Mikel Lopez (41-0) will put his

undefeated record and WBC strap on the line against #1 WBC contender and fellow unbeaten fighter

Ryan McCormick (35-0).  So the question is, “Who will win?”  Lopez, known for his all out agressive

and crowd pleasing style, grew up dirt poor in Mexico and said he has had to work for everything he has

now and he’s not about to give it up by losing to McCormick.  The challenger, McCormick, believes it

is his turn to step out into the lime light and he’ll bring a his huge Irish following with him to the bout.

We think Lopez is too experienced and accomplished of a fighter at this point to lose to McCormick but

look for the challenger to make another run at a World Title in the near future.

No matter what he does from here on out, WBA/IBF Champion Ace Morton (47-2) will always be

remembered as the first legitimate Champion under Cass’ new simulator (circa early 2006).  Whatever

accomplishments Morton adds to his resume during the few remaining fights he has left in him will

only add to his legacy.  Morton unified all the belts after 10 weeks of alphabet madness to clear out the

division and won his first 44 fights.  Morton says he wants to fight at least twice more and take down

a few of the young guns out there like Lord Adam Taylor and Marcus Crimson.   It won’t be easy but

we hope the Champion can finish out his career on top and allow the whole championship process to

After  sitting through nearly two months of paper champions, mandatory defenses and a clouded league

lacking a true champion, Cass Boxing fans can rejoice in the fact that a Title unification tournament has

been set up to establish the legitimate champion of Cass Boxing.  The current front runner, WBA Champ

Ace Morton (37-0) will face Darnell Rollas (33-2) and IBF Champ Mark Hill (35-0) will meet WBC

Champ Jarell Reilly (35-1).  The winners of the two bouts will meet for the Undisputed Cass Title.  We

at Cass Magazine predict Ace Morton will meet Mark Hill for all the marbles.  In the end, we wouldn’t

be surprised if Ace Morton is left holding all the belts.

After another tweaking of the simulator, the new format still has three champs but just one league and

the fighters are ranked from 1-80.  The general consensus of the top fighter in Cass today is IBF

After some restructuring, a new league format has been created that basically includes three leagues

built into one, with each “mini league” representing a sanctioning body and it’s own champion.

However, unification bouts are allowed to create an Undisputed Champion.  ID #’s 1-33 represent the

WBC, 34-66 represent the WBA and 67-99 represent the IBF.  The current consensus top fighter is WBA

Champion Alexander Alberssen – who will fight his final bout tomorrow by defending his title against

Ace Patterson.  Look for Alberssen to go out with a win and finish his career without a clean defeat on

Cover:  Can Alexander Alberssen remain on top?

It was no pleasure cruise along the way but Alexander Alberssen has made it to the top of Cass Boxing

after his victory over undefeated Arthur Jones.  Alberssen’s two defeats were disputed decisions to Mark

Randel and Cole Boente but he took the losses in stride and viewed them as mere bumps on the road to

the Cass World Title.  Alberssen’s convincing victory over Arthur Jones helps ease the pain of his

controversial losses and now the question is how long can Alberssen remain the Champ?  One thing the

Champ emphasisizes is how he has defeated everyone on his way to the top (which is true) so he’s ready

Cover:  Torero Martinez – Can this man be beaten?

After his impressive rematch victory over Robin Lawson to regain the Cass World Title, boxing pundits

everywhere are debating if Torero Martinez can be defeated.  Sure, he has a loss on his record but that

was a controversial split-decision loss to Lawson in their first fight.  No one has given Martinez a

legitimate defeat.  The biggest threat out there is clearly undefeated IBO champion Monroe Graham but

we can’t see Graham getting the best of the champion.  In our opinion, despite the possibility of another

We have a great situation in Cass Boxing today with two 33-0 fighters at the top of the rankings and

a resulting mega-fight in the making.  The last time this situation occurred, Ramon Clark and Mason

Alexander were both 33-0 and we don’t have to remind you what happened then, right?  Well, just in

case you weren’t aware, it resulted in a mesmerizing 5-fight series.  Today, Lawson holds the World

Title and is universally recognized as champ after his victory over Haven Corley (37-2).  However, the

cocky Martinez has a strong fan base, the IBO Title to his name and an Olympic Gold Medal on his

Cass Champion Joe Broderick feels he has not received the respect and recognition that a champion

scheduled next but to gain the ultimate respect he deserves, he must take down Taylor again.  Is that fair?

Ramon Clark defeated Mason Alexander to unify the World Title in one of the biggest fights in

Cass Boxing in a long time.  The unification fight pitted two 33-0 fighers but Alexander was the

Now that Clark is on top he has many options, including a rematch with Alexander, fighting top

With the retirement of Erik Marshall (45-2), Colonel Parker has established himself as the top

fighter in Cass Boxing today.  Colonel Parker didn’t start his career until the age of 26 because

he was a Colonel in the Marine Core.  As a result, his career will be shorter than most fighters.

Parker says he plans on making up for lost time by only fighting big fights.  So far he has lived

Cover:  Roberto Espadas knocks Jose Andrews out, is he the real champ?

It may have taken him 2 fights to do it but Roberto Espadas at last scored a 6th round knockout over

WBA Champ Jose Andrews.  It remains to be seen how Espadas will fair against WBC champ Andrew

Cozier or IBF champ Armando Calzada.  While, Cozier has youth on his side and Calzada has

experience, both are heavy hitters.  One thing is for sure, Espadas is the man who beat the man, the

linear champion and in my mind, that makes his the true champ.  But anything can happen with a fight

Cover:  The Life of Undisputed Champion Jose Andrews.

Jose Andrews scored a 10th round knockout of Roberto Espadas to unify the Cases Boxing Crown

but he still feels under-appreciated!  He is considered universally over as the one and only champ

but his detracters still consider him to be a fluke champion.  They are aided by the fact that he was

behind on all offical cards going into the 10th round of his fight with Espadas.  That makes it even

more impressive to me.  This kid’s story is even more amazing by the fact that his description upon

bursting onto the Cass scene was simply “poor.”  This poor fighter is now supreme leading of the

boxing world!  Even if he were to lose his next fight, no one who defeats Nayoa Hernandez (IBF),

Cover:  The Incredible Story of Jose Andrews and his Victory over Armando Calzada.

We we thrilled to have new WBC/IBF Champion Jose Andrews write his own account of his fight

with Armando Calzada.  “Few gave me the chance to win, but that’s O.K.  That just motivated me.

I knew I would win.  I said the way to be him was to stand toe-to-toe with him, not run from his

power.  I take nothing away from him.  He was a true champ, not a paper champ.  We faught for 12

grouling rounds, his right eye closed, while I had two broken ribs from the 4th round on.  It was close,

but I knew I had pulled it out.  Now, I’ll fight anybody.  Well fight Armando again, on our terms this

Undefeated WBA champ James Hart has been very impressive since he burst onto the Cass Boxing

Cover:  Adrian Diaz  vs  Takeo Boy Soon – Our fearless fight forecast!

A classic match of finesse (Diaz) vs power (Soon).  Diaz also brings his outstanding workrate, which is

is enough alone to beat most fighters, and his experience.  Meanwhile, Soon is a young powerhouse

hoping is young with overcome his opponents age.  We don’t know much about Soon since his best

opponent to date is Arnold Cruz (18-2).  I believe Soon will be studying Diaz’s defeats to Kasim Ortiz

in their 1st and 3rd encounters.  Soon’s youth, reflexes and power will overcome the vetern but aging

                   champ in the 8th round.

Cover:  Surprise, Surprise – the IBF returns to Cass Boxing!

Well, it lasted slightly more than 6 weeks but now the IBF has returned to Cass Boxing.  We knew it

was too good to be true, right?  So what does this mean for Cass Boxing?  Believe it or not, I think it

is good!  Let’s face it, no matter how good you have performed nor how much talent you show, if you

don’t have a belt, you’re nobody!  Now, if the champs will fight each other (one big if) then having

the IBF in Cass will produce more marquee matchups.

       Rankings

                1.   Adrian Diaz  (40-2  20KO,  WBC Champion)

                2.   Omar Cardona  (21-0  17KO)

                3.   Baudilio Hagen  (21-0  15KO,  IBF Champion)

                4.   Anwar ST Clair  (23-1  14KO,  WBA Champion)

                5.   Shane Herrera  (21-1  14KO)

                6.   Rich Jenkins  (18-0  14KO)

Inside:  Can Omar Cardona retire Adrian Diaz?

WBC Champion Adrian Diaz will meet Omar Cardona, his toughest test since he dethroned

Roberto Dominguiz, in his 43rd professional fight.  Can he perform as well here as he did against

Domionguiz in just his 19th fight?  We think Cardona simply outworks the champ to win a close,

majority decision.  Look for Diaz to hang up the belts and be a future hall-of-famer!

Fight of the Week:  Baudilio Hagen (21-0)  vs  Shane Herrera (21-1)

Rising Star: Baudilio Hagen  (21-0  16KO)

Future Fights:  Adrian Diaz…………….Even..….Omar Cardona..…….……...Cardona becomes a star!

Anwar ST Clair…...……2-1……..Shane Herrera….………….ST Clair is too good.

Cover:  Adrian Diaz cleans out the division – is there anyone out there left to challenge him?

Adrian Diaz has successfully cleaned out the Cass Boxing division.  Names added to Diaz’s resume

along his path of destruction include Roberto Dominguiz, Carlos Hilton – twice, Marion Navarro -

twice, and Tony Ramos.  Now, is there anyone left that can offer a legitimate threat to the champion?

Currently the short list of challengers includes Kasim Ortiz and Christano Estrada.  Estrada is a cute

boxer but probably no better than Carlos Hilton.  Ortiz is another story with legitimate power.  Even

if Ortiz fails, be on the lookout for knockout artist Baudilio Haugen.

       Rankings

                1.   Adrian Diaz  (33-0  18KO,  Undisputed Champion)

                2.   Kasim Ortiz  (21-0  16KO)

                3.   Christano Estrada  (20-0  15KO)

                4.   Carlos Hilton  (35-3  16KO)

                5.   Marion Navarro  (27-2  13KO)

                6.   Tony Ramos  (24-3  20KO)

Inside:  Christano Estrada – he takes everything one step at a time.

Christano Estrada had to wait over 3 weeks just to get a television fight on a Cass card.  Then he had

victories over Ismael Benavides and Carlos Bryce but he is still looking for his deserved title shot.

He said he just takes it all one step at a time.  Now as he waits for his title shot he is looking towards

possible fights with Carlos Hilton, Marion Navarro, and Tony Ramos.  Then he expects to take Diaz’s

titles away – one step at a time.

Fight of the Week:  Adrian Diaz (33-0)  vs  Marion Navarro (27-2)

Rising Star: Kasim Ortiz  (21-0  16KO)

Future Fights:  Adrian Diaz…………….2-1….….Kasim Ortiz..…….………..I say new champion!

Adrian Diaz……….……3-1……..Christano Estrada…………Diaz by close decision.

                                Carlos Hilton…..….……3-2……..Marion Navarro..…………Hilton still a top contender.

Cover:  Adrian Diaz pulls out another split decision victory to unify the Cass World Title!

First, Adrian Diaz defeated Marion Navarro to unify the WBC & now defunct IBF Titles.  Then after

a 10th round stoppage of journyman Mike Randle, Diaz has pulled out another split decision victory

over Gold Medalist Carlos Hilton to become the Undisputed Champion.  How many more of these fights

can he survive, we think many because now the judges will favor him since he has all the belts.  Next

for Diaz, a WBC mandatory against Leon Edwards and then a much anticipated rematch with either

                   Marion Navarro or Carlos Hilton.

       Rankings

                1.   Adrian Diaz  (26-0  17KO,  Undisputed Champion)

                2.   Carlos Hilton  (32-2  16KO)

                3.   Marion Navarro  (25-1  12KO)

                4.   Tony Ramos  (21-0  18KO)

                5.   Rueben Castro  (19-1  14KO)

                6.   Leon Edwards  (20-1  16KO)

Inside:  Tony Ramos – the kid from the bronx has his eyes on Adrian Diaz’s belts.

The knockout artist from the bronx has fought his way to a #4 ranking by our accounts even without

a victory over a top contender and now he is bent on taking Adrian Diaz’s belts.  Does he deserve all of

this attention and can he beat Diaz?  He does deserve attention for his power, which will bring a new

dimension to Cass Boxing.  At this point however, without a win over a worthy contender, he will still

fall to Diaz and his tremendous boxing skills.

Fight of the Week:  Adrian Diaz (26-0)  vs  Carlos Hilton (32-2)

Rising Star: Tony Ramos  (21-0  18KO)

Future Fights:  Adrian Diaz…………….3-2….….Carlos Hilton…….………..Diaz still too good for Hilton!

Adrian Diaz……….……2-1……..Marion Navarro...…………Diaz makes it clear this time!

Adrian Diaz……….……4-1……..Leon Edwards…..…………Why is this mandatory, again?

Cover:  Adrian Diaz  vs  Marion Navarro: Analysis and Predictions!

Although Diaz can slug with the best of them and has a ferocious left hook, look for this to be a

tactical boxing match.  Diaz will not risk his career by running at Navarro and with good reason since

Navarro is too good to be caught on the chin.  The tangible for this boxer vs boxer fight is simple, how

will Navarro fair against Diaz’s southpaw style.  We think the southpaw style will slow Navarro in the

opening round and Diaz’s power boxing will slow Navarro down over the stretch to give Diaz a clean,

                   unanimous decision.

       Rankings

                1.   Adrian Diaz  (22-0  16KO,  WBC Champion)

                2.   Marion Navarro  (24-0  12KO,  IBF Champion)

                3.   Carlos Hilton  (29-1  16KO,  WBA Champion)

                4.   Rueben Castro  (18-0  14KO)

                5.   Leon Edwards  (18-1  16KO)

                6.   Ismael Benavides  (18-1  15KO)

Inside:  Is the elimination of the IBF good for Cass Boxing?

The most important question here is probably will it last?  We hope so, although chances are they will

recover and reestablish themselves sometime in the future.  One this is for sure, while they are gone, it

is definitely a good thing for Cass Boxing!.  It will clean things up and it should be a lot easier to get

2 champions together to unify the belts than three.  This will also make championship contests more

legitimate and force more challengers to fight each other and earn their title oppertunities.

Fight of the Week:  Reuben Castro (18-0)  vs  Leon Edwards (18-1)

Rising Star: Reuben Castro  (18-0  14KO)

Future Fights:  Adrian Diaz…………….3-2….….Marion Navarro….………..Diaz clear winner!

                                 Carlos Hilton……..……2-1……..Rueben Castro….…………I’d take Castro!

3.      Javiar Salazar  (16-0  12KO)

4.   Carlos Hilton  (26-1  21KO,  WBA Champion)

Inside:  Adrian Diaz – I dethroned a legend!

Following his one-sided decision victory over Roberto Dominguiz to capture the WBC Title, Adrian

Diaz said, “I dethroned a legend.”  He did indeed.  But the question arises now, is Diaz a legend in his

own right?  Could he have defeated the Roberto Dominguiz of 5 years ago?  Only time will tell the

answer to the 1st question and we’ll never now the answer to the 2nd.  Diaz has accomplished the

critical task of dethroning a legend, the first step toward legendary status.  Look for Diaz to have a

long, prosperous reign and meet Marion Navarrow down the road.  One thing is for sure, legendary

status isn’t given to a fighter, he must earn it first!

Fight of the Week:  Roberto Dominguiz (61-2)  vs  Henry Walker (19-2)

Cover:  Roberto Dominguiz vanquishes Victor Graham but did he really defeat Floyd

              Haywood?

Roberto Dominguiz remained on top of the world after his 2nd round thrashing of undefeated Victor

Graham but later he struggled with tough Cass Olympic Sliver Medalsit Floyd Haywood.  Dominguiz

pulled out a close, unanimous decision that many at ringside disagreed with.   Haywood landed 81

more punches than the Champion but he was also floored in the 4th round.  Not only did the decision

leave fans booing, it also left them wanting more!  You won’t hear any complaints about the decision

here, it could have gone either way, but we do call for a mandatory rematch.  Our pick, Dominguiz by

                   KO this time!

       Rankings

                1.   Roberto Dominguiz  (48-1  33KO,  WBC Champion)

                2.   Carlos Hilton  (20-0  15KO,  IBF Champion)

                3.   Jose Cesar Suarez  (27-1  21KO,  WBA Champion)

                4.   Floyd Haywood  (19-1  14KO)

                5.   Angel Pedroza  (23-1  15KO)

                6.   Victor Graham  (22-1-1  15KO)

Inside:  Jose Cesar Suarez’s 2nd chance at Super-Stardom!

When Jose Cesar Suarez won the IBF title by knocking Juan Nunez out many moons ago, many,

including ourselves, praised him as the future of Cases boxing.  After a string of successful defenses

he ran into a road block named Victor Graham.  After losing a one-sided decision to Graham, we all

had to rethink our previous evaluations of him.  Now he is back and champion once again after defeating

well-respected Angel Pedroza.  Have we changed our tune about his future outlook?  Not a bit.  The

biggest fight in Cass Boxing today is Suarez vs Dominguiz and Suarez is the man to dethrone

Dominguiz!  You heard it here first!

Fight of the Week:  Jose Cesar Suarez (27-1)  vs  Angel Pedroza (23-1)

Rising Star: Carlos Hilton  (20-0  15KO,  IBF Champion)

Cover:  Victor Graham captures the IBF Title – How long will he last?

Victor Graham proved all of the odds-makers wrong with his stunning unanimous decision win over

Jose Cesar Suarez, now can he do the same to Christoph Tobious?  You’ve got to admit his victory

over Suaez wasn’t a fluke, he dominated every round of the bout!  However, conventional wisdom

says Tobious will burst his bubble.  The winner will likely get a Super-Fight with WBC king Roberto

Dominguiz.  Can you say Dominguiz-Tobious II!

       Rankings

4.      Victor Graham  (19-0  14KO,  IBF Champion)

5.      Jose Cesar Suarez  (23-1  19KO)

Inside:  Angel Pedroza – Left out in the dark again!

All Angel Pedroza, the new WBA Champion, wants is a little recognition and a big-time fight and it

appears he will have to wait longer for both!  When he won the title, the champions were Roberto

Dominguiz, Jose Cesar Suarez, and he was known as “the other guy.”  The bad news for Pedroza is

he’ll have to wait longer with Dominguiz fighting the Tobious-Graham winner and Jose Cesar

                  Suarez on the comeback.

Danny Lopez?   It all comes down to his heart and level of competition.  I won’t even mention

him as a good fighter until he beats the Roberto Dominguez’s, Christoph Tobious’ and Hiroki
