| Ok, here's how the cookie crumbles.... The school was taking a trip to DC for the Affirmative Action March on Washington....actually all of the Detroit Public Schools were sending people. So, me and my sister decided to go. We figured it would be fun, and we knew people who were going that we could harrass while we were there. We got dropped off at the State Fair Grounds at about 9pm. We had to hustle n bustle our way through the disorganization of BAMN. Once we got our bus tickets and such, we boarded the bus. Then we got right back off and got on a different one so we could sit wit people we knew. They didn't care anyways...I don't think anyone was on the right bus. I don't really remember much of the ride there. I kno we stopped a few times, and I got off once when we stopped. Other than that, I slept the whole time. Amber was sitting by a couple guys from our school, and they were sayin what they were gonna do to me while I was sleeping, but I heard them. And everytime I heard them say somethin I made sure they knew that I heard them. I wasn't bout to let them do shit to me while I was sleepin. We got there, and it was a little windy out, but nothin that we couldn't handle. We walked to the subway and took that to somewhere. When we got off, we had a hella long way to walk. No biggie tho, we weren't in any kind of hurry. I was walkin wit 2 friends from school, and Amber was wit her friends. When we finally made it there, we were so relieved. We went into the Lincoln Memorial and looked around, then we listened to some people talk (that was some powerful stuff). My cell phone was on most of the time, so I was communicating with who my sis was wit. But once we lost them at the beginning of the march, we didn't see them until the very end. My friends and me didn't really have anything to do, and we didn't want to go wait back at the bus, so we decided to go and see the White House. It's not all it's cracked up to be. But they were doin lots of construction on different things, so the views were screwed up. After seeing the White House, we didn't kno what else to do, so we walked around town a little. We were kinda hungry, or maybe it was jus our sweet tooth talking, but we wanted to find somewhere to get some kind of snack. We tried going into the International building, but since security was tight, you had to have ID, which 2 of us didn't have. We ended up at this cute little restaurant called "Jordan's". Fancy shmancy restaurant, let me tell you.... We had no idea what to order, cuz it was such a nice place, and we were all pretty cheap. All of us had an ice water (FREE!), and then we got this nice little ice cream sampler to split. It had 3 different flavors of ice cream, and was ganished wit a nice little mint and some berries. Bad thing about it: the damn thing cost $7.00!. That's right, 7 freakin dollars for 3 little scoops of ice cream. I must say tho, that was the best damn ice cream I've ever had. Since we paid $7 for ice cream, my friend decided the place still owed us something, so she took one of their nice black cloth napkins. I got a pack of matches (which I didn't steal) and one of their business cards so I kno where to go when I wanna buy overpriced ice cream. After our little ice cream adventure, we went back to the bus and waited to leave... and we waited... and waited.... and waited some more.... Wanna kno why? Because my sister and the people she was with weren't back. They held up our bus. And to top it off, the stupid fuckers didn't want to answer their cell phones....jus kept getting the voice mail... I figured they were probably in the subway when I tried to call, but I tried calling every 5 minutes to see where the hell they were at. Well, the only thing that's going through my mind is how I'm gonna explain to my mother when I get back to Detroit that my sister is somewhere in DC and she needs to go pick her up. They told us that they would leave you in DC if you took too long to get back to the bus....and that's what I thought was going to happen. Thank God it didn't They finally got back, and I bitched out the guys for not answering their cell phones or at least calling to let us kno that they were on their way. We all got back to Detroit, safe and sound (for the most part). I wasn't tired the whole way back, so I was jus chillin next to my friend, listenin to music. The next day no one went to school...we didn't get back to Detroit until about 3:30 am. |
