| ABOUT HAZHART BASENJI'S |
| When it comes to Basenji's you can count on top quality dogs, from English, American and Australian lines. We are not large breeders, but our main concern is the well-being of our pups and improving the breed. Most of our puppies go to families, many with children. We like to raise our puppies in our home, and they are handled by our family and friends from a very young age. We also like to play with them, offereing a large selection of toys and balls and let them mix wtih the other dogs so they learn respect and doggy manners. We were adopted by a black and white Basenji cross in December 1976, when my husband and I were honeymooning, he owned us, but we never owned him. Because of his great personality, catlike habits, and his yodeling ways, when we come to have our first pedigree dog, it could only be a Basenji. So we purchased our first pedigree bitch 10yrs ago (Debrak Ima Honey), with my son taking an interest in showing her. A few years later we matched her with a stunning pedigree dog (Ch Debrak Classic Lad). My daughter, Joanne took an interest in the show side of owning a Basenji five years ago and we entered our dog at 18mths of age for his first show. In twelve months he became an Australian Champion, and showing was in both of our veins. In 1995 we registered our prefix 'Hazhart". In pur first litter of eight, we took four of the best to the show ring and within 3 yrs we had all four Basenji's to Australian Champion Title (Ch Hazhart Africa Sanai, Ch Hazhart Africa Savannah, Ch Hazhart Africa Nile, Ch Hazhart Africa Kibra) Our Basenji's have been judged by international, interstate and local judges and time and time again have been selected not only as Best of Breed but on a few occasions all the way up to Best in Show. We are also home to Western Australia's 1st Grand Champion (Grd Ch Hazhart Klassic Legend). He obtained this title at only 3 1/2 years old. He has been our highest winning Basenji, with some of his caree highlights being, Best of Breed Perth Royal Show, '98, '99, '00, '01, '02 plus '04. Also in '98 he won Best State Bred in Show and Runner-up in Group at the Royal Show, as well as his class in group at the '99 Royal Show, and runner-up in group again at Perth Royal '02. He also helped my daughter to the title of Runner-up in Australia Pal Junior Handler in 1999. Quite an achievment for such a young dog. We have 2 bitches (Ch Hazhart Quicksilva & Ch Hazhart Myas Vision) who lwe will be breeding with in the near future. Taylor, Roxy and Mya are now retired and Jen Vaughan Davies young boy Ch Hazhart Southin Comfort has stepped up to take BOB at Perth Royal 2005 and State Bred in Grp, plus Best in Group at Western Classic 2005. He is looking to follow in his fathers footsteps. Many of the owners of our dogs have no hesitation in recommending HAZHART BASENJI'S to people who are interested in being owned by this wonderful dog.
