Fairbank
4 Springhead 4 U15 Drypool.
Fairbank came into this match knowing that whatever the final outcome, another season in the drypool was for certain for Longstaffs men. None the less the lads wanted to go out with a good performance in front of their home fans. The game kicked off with the sun beating down on the end of season clash and both teams were giving it their all for one last time this season. Fairbank were the first to break through as the forward line raced through and gave the reds first blood. Before half time Anthony 'legsy' Broadbelt crowned an impressive start to his Fairbank career with an excellent top corner finish from a free-kick 25 yards out. The game was in the reds favour at half time 2-0 and from early moments in the second half looked as if it could only get better for Fairbank as a goal from Springhead was immediatley followed up with a tidy finish form Fairbanks players player of the year Lee Nahar. But a dubious penalty decision put Spartans back in the game as Springheads No.10 slotted the penalty away. Another goal was gifted to Spartans as a mix up in the box led to a Springhead forward capatilising and getting the goal. Bad play and misfortune gave the away team the equaliser soon after as free-kicks were being given away and one led to a quality effort from Springhead on the edge of the 18-yard box and misfortune for Fairbanks keeper as the ball riccashaed into the back of the net. Springhead then thought they'd won the match as from another superb free-kick effort took the lead, but Fairbank showed charachter and drew level as they stumbled the ball over the line and pushed forward for a winner but were made to settle for a draw as the game ended a frustrating 4-4. Chewy was later awarded man of the match for his commendable perfromance at the back and assisting one of the goals. Dissapointing in the end for Fairbank but they look to next season and hope to win promotion in what will be Longstaffs last as manager
