DOUG






Doug Bertram began playing music at the age of 10 when he started playing the trumpet. Throughout school he played in Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Marching Band, various Pit Orchestras, and Jazz Band. Doug attended jazz clinics at The University of Cincinnati and was fortunate enough to play with Jim Pugh(Chick Corea), and the late great Frank Brown. Doug has been singing for most of his life beginning with church and continuing through school in various choirs and ensembles. He credits his breathing technique, however, to his years of trumpet playing. Doug began singing professionally at the age of 18. Over the years he has played with many bands including, Montage(with Mike), Desire, Alias(with Eddie and Charlie), various versions of Montage and Unbound, and the current UNBOUND line up(with Randy). Doug's main vocal influences are Robert Plant(Led Zeppelin), Steve Walsh(Kansas), Mark Farner(Grand Funk), Steve Perry(Journey), Geddy Lee(Rush), Dio(Rainbow,Black Sabbath), Rik Emmett(Triumph), Ian Gillan(Deep Purple),and Rob Halford(Judas Priest). In the later years he was influenced by Geoff Tate(Queensryche), James LaBrie(Dream Theater), Ray Gillen(Badlands), and Jeff Scott Soto(Yngwie Malmsteen). Doug has opened for such bands as Motorhead, Gary Richrath(REO Speedwagon), Joe Lynn Turner(Rainbow), The Hunger, Saxon and LA Guns. He also contributed two vocal tracks to James D. Gilmore's "Return II Madness" CD. Doug's other interests include his family, the outdoors(camping, fishing etc.), sports(football,hockey,baseball),astronomy, and computers. Doug grew up in Springdale, Ohio and lives there still.
