HCC COFFEEHOUSE MISSION STATEMENT
"An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail." Edwin Land
When the coffeehouse was in existence the HCC Coffeehouse, in order to remain faithful to the basic understandings of art, and as creative individuals we promised to promote an uncensored environment. Art does imiate life and if we were to censor art, that would be limiting a person's life. Even though we never said specifically what material can/cannot be read, sung, discussed, etc., we don't believe in limiting any person's creativity. With that in mind:
More than anything else, try to remember each morning -- before the winds of the world pick you up and carry you off -- that you want to be more awake to yourself than you were the day before; that you want to have more choices today -- in who you are and what you embrace -- than you did yesterday.

Growing inwardly requires us to willingly enter into a new kind of struggle wherein we begin to become conscious of our own divided nature. This new and heightened consciousness of our present division -- in our longings and the relationships they engender -- produces a new order of self-awareness.

From this awakened awareness, and in it we can begin to grow.
