E is the "Root" or where the E notes are located on the fretboard.
The 0 is a note you play withing the scale.
These patterns are important to memorize. Iommi uses them quite frequently!
In case you don't already have one, here is a handy chart showing all the notes on a
24 fret axe. Yeah, I know. Most of us don't own a 24 fret axe, but some do. And this
chart helps you see the fret board in it's entire cycle of notes.
If you can't print it out without it looking like crap, simply hilite
the chart, push "Ctrl" and "C" to copy it. Then open it in Word for Windows or
Word Pad. Size it down, and print it out for a reference chart.
