Welcome to the "Let's try for Summer 2004 " Swim 2002!

*cough*

Back to the pairs info page

I suppose you want to see the rules for applying for this clutch? WELL!

There are now THREE kinds of applications for this Swim clutch. *added 1/12/04

1 - The DRAGON Clutch

This is the clutch which most people would expect to be laid on the sands of any Frenzy. There are dozens of eggs of all sizes and colors, all of them filled with beautiful swimmer or partial-swimmer dragon hatchlings.

The rules for the DRAGON clutch are typical -

1 - You must have a web page, with a candidate on the page. The candidate may be from ANY genre, world or be of any configuration but MUST have something to do with swimming, water or the like. They may be human, elfin, dragon, or any variation of humanoid/draconic that can be imagined. HOWEVER: they must be able to function with, on, beside or near the dragon. They cannot be non-sentient but they don't necessarily have to be living. The candidate may not have bonded a full-sized dragon before, but may have a Lian dragon, other small multiple-bond-type dragon, or pets.

2 - The web page must have a link to the Healing Den (www.oocities.org/healing_den/) that WORKS. The page may have whatever level of content is appropriate to the character. If that means swearing or adult content, please be sure to place a warning at the BEGINNING of the page.

3 - If you want your candidate to bond a more "spectacular" looking dragon, please make them impressive people. Images and backgrounds are extremely important to this feature - but PLEASE don't load too many animations or ANY music. Music - while great on some pages, doesn't belong on a candidate page here unless they are actually PLAYING it and it has that much to do with the story. Otherwise, music just slows everything down. If you have any special requests, such as offspring from certain dragons, please tell me. I will TRY to arrange it, but there are no guarantees. If you wish your candidate to bond to a certain gender of dragon I will try to do that too.

At this time, there are 56 Draconic hatchlings (10/26/02).

So what's the other part of the hatching??

2 - The CHARACTER clutch!

For the first time (that I know of, until the Ring of Fire beat me to it lol) in Dragon Adoption site history, there are a large number of shapeshifting or humanoid offspring coming from certain eggs or people who participated in the Swim. Since several of them are Zekiran shapeshifters, I have given the other shapeshifters - or those who have BEEN a shapeshifter or shifted from dragon to humanoid and back - Zekiran character sheets and scores. With those, I have assembled the "adult" shapes of the Characters that would hatch here. The Character Hatchlings may then be sent to other places (if they're accepted there that is) as candidates themselves. SOME of them may be completely fertile for both humanoid and draconic genes, but their size may limit their partners.

The rules for adopting these Character eggs are as follows:

1 - You must have a page, which has a clear link to the Healing Den (see above). There does NOT have to be a character or candidate on the page. However, there MUST be a story about who will be taking CARE of the hatchling character. Each character will be very different and require different pages. Below, see which kind of character you will get to try for. Character hatchlings have their names created from their parents, rather than being chosen randomly or by description as I do with the others.

A - Humanoid, Shapeshifter - This is closest to the Zekiran ancestry, only with dragon looking genes from the Swim mate. They will require a caretaker until they are old enough to live on their own. Essentially, they are children needing a nanny. They will be effectively immortal - they come from that side of the Zekiran genetic fence.

B - Humanoid, non-Shifting - This is a half-dragon, or in some cases a half-merdragon. They are typically upright and can handle living in water and on land (though the merdragons must remain in water). As above, they are children, needing a caretaker until they are educated and able to care for themselves. They may be very long lived or even immortal.

C - Centauroid Draconic/Humanoid - These are more draconic looking than the others, but are still humanoid in brain and powers. Some may also be shapeshifters but they are restricted in size or type of shifting. They may live very long lives. They require less caretaking earlier on, as they will mature more quickly than their humanoid bretherin.

Any site requesting one of these must list the following:

1 - Which type you want to try for

2 - If you have a clue which parents you want (read the swim for that information)

Sites requesting these Character hatchlings may ONLY ask for TWO. Quantities are VERY limited on this type. Because the Zekiran females are essentially "people", some might actually need to give birth, rather than lay an egg.

At this time (10/26/02) there are THIRTEEN available Candidate hatchlings. I cannot guarantee that every request for these characters will result in a successful bond.

3 - Sponsorships

A good number of sites have gone to Sponsorships for dragon images, and the Healing Den Swim's clutch will be our first to do so as well.

In order to sponsor a Swim dragon at this clutch:

1 - You MUST own a dragon site which gives out its own images. Associated with those images are usually a whole batch of characters, so I'm presuming that since you've got an agency, you have existing characters.

2 - When you apply you may ask for specific pairings of offspring, but you're not guaranteed to get it. You may ask for up to 4 dragons - these are NOT Character dragons. Asking for specific genders will be easier to comply with, than specific pairs. If there are too many sponsorships, I will reduce the quantity of the highest requests until there are enough to go around and also include normal candidates.

3 - Sponsored dragons must be put up just as promptly as any other image from the Healing Den. However you do not have to put a full story up with it at any time. Just a link with it, its info, and a link back will do. BUT! I clearly prefer to see some effort placed on either creating a bond or caretaker for the dragon, or a job that it does, it's position in your site.

4 - Sponsored dragons that aren't bonded later MAY be sent ANYWHERE THAT ACCEPTS DRAGONS, to bond themselves. Since these are mostly sea-dragons, they may also bond more than once, with another dragon or with a rider who has already bonded a dragon.

Want to apply for the Clutch?

Send an EMAIL to Baeris with this information:

-Your working email and online ID

-Character's name (if for Dragon clutch), Gender, Age and Origin if not from your Weyr

-Character page WORKING url - if reserving a spot, please remember that you must actually finish this character when I ask for it. If you can't do that, don't send a reserve request. If Sponsoring, just send your main website's working url.

-Any requests or information for Character Clutch

THANK YOU for taking the time to read the rules! I hope to see your characters here soon!!

CURRENT CANDIATES AND PAGES - last updated 3/31/05 - I removed the old reserves and any without links. If you need those back up, I'll put them back up, but there was never any indication that they were finished. If the two who don't have an accurate url (Aiania and Kydair) aren't in with a new address soon or before the clutch is about to fill, I will remove them. I don't want to, they are kind of important.. Especially Ainia since she participated IN the swim...
