Injured Dallas Police Officer Needs Your Help

On November 13, 1996, Officer Kevin Marceau of the Dallas, TX Police Department was critically injured in the line of duty. Severe head injuries have incapacitated Kevin and has forced him to be cared for 24 hours a day. He was officailly retired from the Dallas PD on January 8, 1998.

Kevin is my brother and although I am currently living in Ohio, I would do anything I can to help him. My parents drive 45 minutes each day to be with him. They have been driving an hour each way, every day from Grapevine, TX since the accident and spend several hours a day with him.

My parents are unable to relocate Kevin closer to their home and have limited access to a wheelchair accessible van to get him home. When an offer was made to donate a van to them and then the offer not made good on, their hopes of getting him home more frequently were shattered.

It is now my goal to raise enough money to purchase a van for Kevin and my parents. I realize that there are many charities that are in need of support and that there are many other officers in need. So my request is simple. I am asking (pleading) for law enforcement personnel from around the country, Dallas citizens, friends, and caring individuals to donate just one-dollar each to reach the goal of $35,000. This amount will pay for the van, conversion to wheelchair accessibility, tax, title, and license, as well as insurance. Any additional funds donated will be used to meet his everyday basic needs and unpaid expenses. This gift of love would brighten both his life and the lives of his (our) parents. Kevin has nothing to look forward to except the smiling and loving faces of those who love him.

Will you please help Kevin?

If you can help, a benefit fund has been set up and it is my goal to deliver the van to Kevin on July 4, 1998, Independence Day. Having the van will give Kevin and our parents the independence of getting him to familiar surroundings more often. This seems to be the most effective rehabilitation. His face gleams when he is taken home to see the house he grew up in and the people he loves so dearly.

We love him dearly also and so I ask that you please take the time to circulate this request to law enforcement agencies, businesses, and individuals that may be willing to help. Please send all donations directly to:

P.S. This is a surprise for my parents. Anyone who knows them should not let them know about this.
