The Park is located in Cajun Heartland, USA (Evangeline Parish) off of LA 3042 Highway(Chicot Park Road) just about six miles north from Ville Platte. Chicot State park is the largest park in Louisiana and has a 2,000 acre man made lake, stocked with plenty of fish. You can go camping, fishing, hiking, bird watching or have a picnic. There are hiking trails and picnic tables throughout the park with Bar-B-Q pits. At the park you can rent a cabin or rent space to park a camper with all hook-ups. If you just want to go spend the day the admission fee is $2.00 per vehicle for up to four people and .50 additional per person after that. There are various programs offer throughtout the year and groups of 15 to 30 can make reservations for any of their special programs. Plans are now being made to add a 29 mile trail for bikers. When that trail is completed I will add to this site, that should be lots of fun.
There is a Nature Program throught the year. The purpose of this program is to offer a variety of fun for families and groups. For groups wishing a specific topics, the site naturalist will try to accommodate your needs if they are able. The programs are free with your paid admission to Chicot State Park.
