A Marion county man who married the girl next door was charged with her murder on Tuesday night. Johnny lee Sherrod 43 was arrested Tuesday night after investigator r found the body of Nadine Sherrod his estranged wife of 25 years and childhood sweetheart slumped against her car in the driveway of her husband's home Nadine had been shot at point blank range with a large caliber handgun sometime after 8 PM earlier in the evening Johnny and Nadine were at their daughter's house Nadine was cutting hair at the home when Johnny came to the house to say his truck had broken down and that he needed a ride home Nadine gave her husband a ride according the neighbors who said the two had been drinking they then apparently got into an argument investigators arrived to find Nadine's body resting against the driver's side of her ford mustang the car's headlights were on; but the motor wasn't running afterwards, the Sherrod's daughter arrived at the scene she and friends had been able to start her fathers truck and she drove it to his home, only to find investigators scurrying about a murder scene deputies found Johnny inside his house he offered no resistance to authorities. a neighbor said the couple had been married for 25 years but separated just Christmas they were on friendly terms; she had a restraining order against him, but things had settled down.
