Aquazone Fish Information Page

This page contains information on all the currently released fish. It is rather slow loading, although I tried to keep the image sizes down. There are two images for each fish, an adult and a fry. Society refers to the number of fish in the tank, tank size is the size of the tank in pixels. Some species have been grouped together, because of similiar requirements. Feeding is based on a breeding tank without fry... I'm assuming most people remove the fry. Some information on some fish is currently unavailable because of a computer crash which ate my records. As soon as I've re-invented these wheels, I'll post the information. If there is a fish with a Data Lost entry in it's table, the rest of the info is by memory and may contain errors. If you discover a major error, please email me with the correction as soon as possible (so that other people's fish don't die!) If you know the correct info, please email it to me!

Angelfish and Black Angelfish
(Pterophyllum scalare)

Pictures
Lifespan
1,469 days
Tank Size
600x2000
Temperature
81.5°F 27.5°C
Lighting
12 hours on, 12 hours off
Water Params
Baseline
Society
Forms pair bonds
Feeding
Two portions every two hours
Notes
Angelfish bred at lower temperatures will lay and hatch eggs, but the fry stand little chance of survival. This applies to the black angels also, but to a lesser degree.

Leopard Corydoras
(Corydoras julii)

Pictures
Lifespan
1,839 days
Tank Size
480x640
Temperature
78.8°F 26.0°C
Lighting
14 hours on, 10 hours off
Water Params
Baseline
Society
Forms pair bonds
Feeding
One portion every three hours
Notes
These are among the easiest of the fish to breed. Only the platies produce more fry.

Blue Emperor Tetra

Notes
As I recall, these fish are not one of the easier fish to breed, but by no means are they the hardest (that honor goes to the RTB Shark!)

Clown Loach
(Botia macracantha)

Pictures
Lifespan
1,286 days
Tank Size
480x2000
Temperature
79.7°F 26.5°C
Lighting
12 hours on, 12 hours off
Water Params
Enjoys a mild GH increase to 4.500
Society
Schooling Fish
Feeding
Four portions every four hours
Notes
Something in these settings might be inaccurate, because they have only produced fry once for me.

Neon Tetra
(Paracheirodon innesi)

Pictures
Lifespan
555 days
Tank Size
600x2000
Temperature
80.1°F 26.7°C
Lighting
14 hours on, 10 hours off
Water Params
Baseline
Society
Schooling Fish
Feeding
Two portions every four hours
Notes
Unlike real life, the AZ Neon is one of the easiest species to breed. The only difficulty is the short lifespan... it makes it hard to keep a stable population.

Black Molly and Red Platy
(Pocilia sphenops & Xiphorus maculatus)

Pictures
Lifespan
1,469 days and 1,189 days
Tank Size
600x2000
Temperature
79.7°F 26.3°C
Lighting
14 hours on, 10 hours off
Water Params
Both require a massive GH increase: 8.020 and 7.125
Society
Schooling Fish
Feeding
Six portions every twelve hours
Five portions every four hours
Notes
It takes a while to get the hang of breeding these two livebearers, but once you do you can sit back and watch the fry pour in. To date, one tank of five platies has produced over 500 fry! The mollies are a close second, with almost 300. Thanks go out to Clinton V. Weiss, who gave me the params for the mollies. You can breed them in the same tank, but it gets kinda interesting telling the fry apart by sight alone!

Dwarf Pencilfish
(Nannostomus marginatus)

Notes
Most of this information has proven correct, but I haven't lost one of the new installation due to old age yet.

Red Phantom Tetra
(Megalamphodus sweglesi)

Pictures
Lifespan

Notes
One of my all-time favorite real life species, I just wish 9003inc. would create the black color morph! These settings have produced several batches of fry for me.

These little fellows still haven't bred for me since the crash. I do know that they breed better with a large leafed plant in the tank (such as the Tiger Lotus or Japanese Waterlilly)

Still haven't managed to recover any of the data on this species either. In real life these are another favorite of mine... you should see a 55 gallon tank with about 40 of these guys in it. Particularly at feeding time... they look like a school of striped pirahna who smell blood!

This was the last of the originally promised fish to be released. As of the current time I haven't gotten any yet.

Not only did I lose the data on this species... I still haven't found the fish themselves! I'm sure they're around here somewhere, because Dean Hamilton (our favorite 9003inc. employee!) was kind enough to send all my fish orders after the last crash... just can't find the little buggers for some reason!

The highly anticipated guppy has finally been released! Too bad I haven't been able to find a copy of Aquazone Deluxe 2 locally! The search continues...
