She was married twice, first to Peter Higgins, and then to another man, also named Higgins. Her daughter, from the marriage to Peter Higgins, was Ellen Higgins, who married Felix McGarty.
According to Doris Higgins, "Francis Higgins had 2 sons, James and Peter. They went to America about 1830 and returned some year later having accumulated some money. With this they bought Curraion outside Mohill. Peter's widow Ellen left it to Patrick, her son by her second marriage. Patrick left it to his son John. John's widow Eleanor now owns it. She has either three or four children, now grown up."
