from the Bulletin of Beth Tikvah Synagogue in Toronto, Ontario

In what surely will be the most remarkable event since sliced Ahallah, the Messiah, it has been learned, will arrive at Beth Tikvah's Purin celebrations on Motza'ei Shabbat, March 22. the Messiah would have been here sooner except for heavy traffic onHwy #401 (The hwy that joins Montreal and Windsor--very major motoroute). The Ritual Committee sub-committee chairman of the evening, Mr Eli Hanavi has arranged for a gala welcome.

Meanwhile, world and local reactions have been mixed. at the United Nations, vigorous debate among the member nations centred on what exactly is a pruning hook. Yaser Arafat condemned the news as yet another instance of how Israel aims at hijacking the peace process. The Kavvalah Centre remains mystified at the news. And the president at Beth tzedek is demanding to know why the Messiah is not coming to Beth Tzedec, the largest Conservative Congregation in Toronto. When asked by the Pope if this was his first coming or second coming, the Messiah is reported to have replied that he had come to Beth Tikvah once before but there was no time for him at the end of the Board Meeting.
