My Mom wrote such a good answer that I decided to include her answer on my homepage.
Michael, I apologize for not responding to you sooner. The following is an extremely over-simplified outline of what practicing Jews believe. It took me a little bit of time, to distill the whole of Jewish belief into a very short paragraph.>We believe in one G-d, who created the universe and everything in it and who still runs the world. Jews do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah or the son of G-d. Our central prayer, called the Sh'ma, affirms the unity of G-d. Thus, we do not believe in a Trinity, which would split Him into 3 parts.
If you want more details on Judaism, there is a wealth of sites on the Internet. An excellent one I found is called Judaism 101. It contains a lot of detail, but is expressed clearly and simply for a beginner, who wants to understand.
