All
recipes.com has a great feature that allows you to convert
a recipe easily. Say, for example, you want to make chocolate
chip muffins, but the recipe makes a dozen. You simply locate
the "scale this recipe" box and put in the amount you
wish to make and it figures the recipe out for you.

Hopefully you
are lucky enough to live in one of the nine states that has a
SouperSalad restaurant!!
We discovered this place just last week. All-you-care-to-eat
salad bar, breads, baked potatoes, soup and desert. Check their
site for a location near you and check their low, low prices!
Kids under 5 eat for free... kids under 12 eat for $1.99. Their
site has their menu listed in its entirety.
Tucson
Cooperative Warehouse delivers to AZ, CO, CA, UT and TX. They
have great prices on many of the foods we use a lot. You can call
TCW at 1-800-350-COOP for help finding a local food buying club
in your area.
This link,
The
Pressure's On! has a lot of good information regarding pressure
cookers. Want to spend less time cooking? How about a hearty lentil
soup in a mere 15 minutes? Chili in 18 minutes? How about steamed
potatoes for mashing in 8?
I know you've
heard of pressure cookers. Today's second generation cookers have
built in safety features and cut your cooking time in half or
more.
When I first
decided to buy a pressure cooker, I found that most of the inexpensive
models were made of aluminum. Having heard of the possible link
between cooking with aluminum and Alzheimer's Disease, I didn't
want to take any chances, so I started looking for a pressure
cooker made of stainless steel, rather than aluminum. I found
the price went up quite a bit!!
If you are
new to pressure cooking, I would highly recommend checking out
pressure-cooking expert Lorna J. Sass's cookbooks; Cooking Under
Pressure, Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure, and Lorna Sass'
Complete Vegetarian Kitchen. There are some very important things
that one should know about pressure cooking.
Here are some
sites that give information concerning the adverse effects of
aspartame (Nutrasweet). My mother began experiencing symptoms
of toxicity, and upon ingestion of aspartame experienced these
symptoms: accelerated heart rate, flu-like symptoms (feverish,
all over aching feeling), panic attacks, and vision problems.
Since that time, we have become even more wary of using aspartame.
