Chewy Oatmeal Cookies

3/4 c. Crisco Butter Flavor shortening
1-1/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg
1/3 c. milk
2 t. vanilla
3 c. quick oats, uncooked
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
3/4 t. ground cinnamon
1/2 t. ground cloves
1-1/2 to 2 c. raisins
1-1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Combine shortening, sugar, egg, milk, and vanilla in large bowl.  Beat at
medium speed until well blended.

In separate bowl, combine oats, flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.  Mix
into creamed mixture just until blended.  Stir in raisins and nuts.

Drop by teaspoonfuls approximately 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned.  Cool 2 minutes on baking
sheet; remove to racks to finish cooling.

Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
