My name is Nancy Fifi :0) I have put up Christian versions of traditional kid's games. I hope you enjoy them. :0)
TWO BY TWOS
This game has not been changed from its original format.
Assign each child to be a certain animal (ie. donkey, horse chicken etc. and 2 of each animal) Tell them not to tell any other children what they are. Now, send them off to find the person who is they same animal as themselves. They must search for their partner while making the sounds and/or movements of their animal.
NOAH AND THE ARK TAG
Noah will be "It" the rest of the group will be scattered animals running about. When Noah tags an animal the animal will freeze until another animal is tagged and freezes. The two animals will join Noah in the Ark. A long rope can be what joins Noah and the animals in the Ark.
Daniel And The Den Of Lions
Everyone sits in a circle, one person gets chosen to be the guesser (Daniel) and leaves the room. Then another person is chosen as the lion that will lead the other lions to lick their paws ,shake their heads or look like they are roaring etc.
Once the leader is wellon his way to leading the group. The guesser (Daniel) comes back and has 3 guesses as to which lion is leading the group.
This is my version of the famous game "Duck, Duck, Goose" Instead of ducks and goose, this version consists of friends and Jesus. Everyone sits in a circle except for the one who is 'the chooser" then 'chooser' touches each child's head and says "Friend, friend, friend...", until he has chosen someone else to be 'Jesus', at that point the person who was picked to be 'Jesus' runs around the circle while the other one tries to catch him. If 'Jesus' has found his spot and has sat down before the other person catches him, he is done, and the chooser must choose again. However if 'Jesus' has been caught before he sits down, then he gets his turn to choose 'Jesus' and the cycle continues. I have played this game at 'Children's church' and it was a big hit with the kids of all ages.
JESUS CALMS THE STORM~ created from the centipede relay
Mark the start and finish lines. Children line up with one person behind the other, facing the finish line. Next, players sit down and wrap their legs around the person in front to form the boat. Player's arms become the paddles. When the leader (Jesus) says "GO!" players lift their arms and begin to push the boat toward the finish line. However the storm is strong and the boat seems to be going in different different directions. In the midst of the storm the leader (Jesus) will command "BE STILL!" and the storm will calm. The boat will then continue on a straight path to the finish line.
I have also created my version of "What Time Is It Mr. Wolf?" In my version instead of 'Mr. Wolf' it is 'Lord Jesus' and at the end instead of saying it is lunch time, we say; "It is time to tag a friend." Then the children run and the child that gets tagged becomes "Lord Jesus". WARNING: It is not an indoors game(I found out the hard way :0)
Here is my version for "Ring Around The Rosie" with the same tune, different words. "JESUS HAS A MESSAGE, HE WANTS YOU TO HEAR IT TODAY, HE LOVES YOU, HE LOVES YOU, SO LET'S BOW AND PRAY."
Here's my version of "LONDON BRIDGE IS FALLING DOWN." I call it "HEAVEN'S GATE WILL OPEN WIDE"
Heavens gate will open wide, open wide, open wide. Heaven's gate will open wide, Hallelujah!!
God's children will come in, will come in, will come in. God's children will come in, Hallelujah!!
We will laugh and sing with Him, sing with Him, sing with Him. We will laugh and sing with Him, Hallelujah!!
*Create actions to go with each verse. (For Heaven's gate to open wide, you could have two kids standing side by side and have them take side steps away from each other until the verse is done.
Then the Children could in through the gates.
Then they can skip in a circle and laugh and continue singing this little rhyme. :0)
Divide groups into several teams. Each team gets a bed sheet. Have one half of each team go to the opposite side of the room for a relay race. Hand a bedsheet to the first person in line on one side of the room. At the word "GO!" the first person must drop to the floor on the bedsheet, roll themselves up into a "cocoon"and then inch worm crawl to their teammates across the room. Tehy will unroll (the team can help) and then fly back to the end of that line. the next person takes their turn. When the relay is done all children should be at the opposite end of the room from where they started.
Give Your Heart To The Lord Relay
2 or more teams, 2 or more hoola hoops, 1 balloon, construction paper shape of heart glued to balloon.
The first person on team each must take the balloon, put it between their knees and run towards the hoola hoop that is being help by another leader at the finish line. They must get the balloon in the hoop without using their hands. If they drop the balloon on their way, they must stop, pick it up and go back to the spot that they dropped it from. Once they get it into the hoop, they pick up the balloon and run back to the next person and give them the balloon.
