Hi Rick: Love your website - found cousins I never knew I had. I'm trying to respond to a letter in Menagerie #9 from L.J. Carroll - Subject:Anthony & Bart Mollica. My father, Andrew Mollica and Anthony Mollica were first cousins. I tried to send the following to Linda Carroll at Yahoo but the address was no longer good. So here is what I wanted to tell her:

Hello - My name is Linda (Mollica) Wagner. My father was Andrew Mollica and his father was Antonio Mollica (sibling to Bart Mollica). Which makes my dad and your grandfather, first cousins. My dad passed away in 1980, but my mom is 86 and I just called her to the computer to verify what she knows. First, the last time she spoke to your grandfather was in June 1980 when my dad died. He called to say he was sick himself and couldn't make it to the funeral but he did send flowers. My mom was wondering now when your grandfather passed away? Here's what my mom remembers: Anthony Mollica came to our house when my oldest brother was 9 months old (about 64 years ago). He was married to someone in NY, she never met her but my dad knew her. When he married the lady in Kansas City, she owned a hotel? Is that correct? And she remembers Anthony having a son. We also grew up hearing that we were related to Guy Lombardo so when I saw that you mentioned him, I knew we were related. Bart had about 9 siblings and Rick has info regarding them on the Mollica website. I have spoken to a few of my dad's cousins, thanks to the site. Some info you might find interesting..go to Rick's website....click on Genealogy....scroll down until you see USA-NY-NJ Mollica-Mazzonne....that is info my cousin put on (her greatgrandfather and my grandfather was Antonio Mollica, one of Bart's brothers). Also, on the homepage where it says Find..type in Lipiari Cemetery...#2 Lipari Records for Mollica & Fenech....(one of Stephen's (another brother of Bart) granddaughters went to Lipari to look up official records and visited the cemetery. It will show you a family tree of the info she found. Hope you enjoy seeing the large family that your grandfather came from. My Mom saved letters written in Italian from 1906 - one was written by your greatgrandfather, Bart. Where do you live? I live in New York City. Feel free to write me at Aide33@aol.com. Bye..... Linda (Mollica) Wagner

Subject: Re: some family background

Dear Rick,

It's taken me a long time to get back to you, perhaps because I don't know where to start or stop. There's so much. I'll start with my dad born in 1905 and died in 1996. He married Framcis Milazzo and had 2 children: me, Anne 1933 and John born in 1934 and married in 1960 to Audrey. They have 3 children:Elaine, Dr. John and Karen Curran (living in Ireland). Mom died in 1940 and dad remarried in 1942 to Ida Albano and they had 3 boys: Dr. Raymond married to Rosemary Smith - 4 children: Raymond, Rose, Andrew and Peter; Paul married to Antoinette Farrandino - 3 children: John Paul, Francesca; and Dr. Peter married to Diane Lentini - 3 children: Gabriel, Ida and Rosanna. I am a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph and celebrated my golden jubilee this September 4 with the clan above and many other family members and friends.

So you see why it took mc so long.??? I'll continue with the rest of the family when I get a chance, if you like. Anne

Thanks for the site. My name is Tony Boisselle. I don't know how you did it, but you have my family on there. Looking at the site answered many questions that I had regarding my family. See, I don't associate with the Mollica's out here in California. My Grandfather Anthony James died when I was 11 years old. Since then, I've always wanted to meet those that I am related to. The Mollica name has a special place in my heart. The more I learn about my family, the more connected I feel with my grandfather. Is there any way we can contact each other? If so, how? By the way, thanks again for the site. You have helped me feel that I belong to the family even though I'm an outcast to those who live out here.

Subject: Italian Link????

Hi Rick Interesting to view your site. My grandfather's mother was a Mollica. It appears to be a fairly common name, is this the case? My grandfather came from the Aeolian Island of Salina, and left there as a 14 year old arriving in Australia in 1899. His father in fact married 2 Mollica women the first died in childbirth along with the baby and then a few years later he married her sister who had 6 children all but one of this children settled in Australia or America. I had never really traced the genealogy but always had an interest. The internet has obviously made information more accessible and motivated me to delve further. It would be interesting to know if your records can link up with the Mollicas from Salina. Angela Mollica born 1847 Leni,Salina Died 1876, also Giovanna Mollica born 1852 Leni, Salina died? their parents were Giovanni Mollica and Caterina Virgona. Although there are Mollicas in Australia I have never felt the need or urge to contact any of them so take heart that your site has worked! Kathryn

Subject: Mollica family

I happened to come across your web site and believe that I may have some information regarding the Mollica family in California and New York. My grandfather was Anthony Mollica of Oliveri, Italy. You have him listed in your list under #459. He and my grandmother Mary had 10 children. 2 were boys who have continued on the name. The elder of the two boys was my father Frank who currently resides in Westchester, NY. The limited information that I currently have is that my grandparents immigrated from Italy to Rhode Island. They had I believe their first 2 children in RI and then moved west to California. Of the 10 children, my father was the only to move to NY. The remainder stayed in California and one in Oregon. Of course, we have spead out since then. If I can provide you any further information, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Georgina Mollica GMol226620@aol.com

Hello Rick, I've been directed to you by my dear cousin Diane Capobianco who reminded me of the friendship which existed during the early 20th century between LEONARDO (FRANK) MOLLICA and the family of PIETRO MOLLA. According to my father, Bill Molla, whose research is documented in his book "The History of the Molla (Mola) Family and the History of Its Ancestral Towns Terrarossa and Aulla, the families lived close by on North Street in Boston sometime between 1901 - 1905. In 1905 the MOLLICA family moved to Beverly, Mass., followed in abt 1907 by the Molla's. Does any of this ring any bells for you? If so I would very much enjoy chatting about family history with you. Looking forward to hearing from you, Betty Brady

Shalom Rick,

Mae Mollica appeared on both the front cover and on pages 27 through 33, and 95 of Flex magazine in February, 1985. You can buy a used copy of the magazine from back issue magazine dealers listed in the yellow pages of major cities. You can probably get the dates of the other issues of Flex that Mae Mollica appeared in by calling the executive office of the publisher of Flex magazine, whose telephone contact numbers are listed in the front pages of the current issue of Flex magazine.

Hi, My name is Michael Emmanuel Mollica my father Michael N Mollica deceased his father Emanuele Mollica arrived in 1909 I have a suspicion that his father a widow preceded him her in 1902 at age of 82. I am not sure how this works. I have a son Anthony Mollica. My brother James Joseph and sister Maylou Glenn. My father has a brother Joseph (deceased) and sister Nancy and sister Grace. My uncle Joseph had three children Joseph, Carol and Joan. I have confirmed my grandparents and am very curious of the other Emanuele as that is my middle name.

My family except for me all still live in Philadellphia, we the outcasts live in Central Floridia in the shaddow of the Big Mouse and Shamu. Good place for a "US" reunion of the Mollicas! I am sending this via my AOL account but my office e mail is reviewed more often mollica.mike@juno.com If there is some easy way to get all our side of the family included format wise let me know.

By the way we visited a bunch of Mollica clan in New York way back when the worlds fair was there in the 60's I bet a few of those Mollicas on your list are a close fit to my grandparents.

The street is called "Mollica court" - so I guess that's a pretty cool fact! Hey Rick! Long time no speak... I think I signed your guestbook back in mid 1998, right after I graduated from UCSB and went to Italy for a couple of months.

Well... a quick update- I now live in San Diego, and have been here since late 1998 after I returned from my big trip. I work for a medical diagnostics company called Millipore Corp. Not married yet... no kids yet... just bought my 3rd house here in SD. Good place to invest!

My Nonno, Vito Antonio Mollica, just turned 82 this past April. He lives in Los Angeles, as does his brother Benito Mollica. The other two brothers, Francesco and Giovanni are still in "Rionero in Vulture", Potenza (Province), Italia. I am in constant contact with my family in Italy, and we take turns visiting every couple of years. I also have lots of Maternal family in Italy, surname, Cicchiello, in Milano, and also down in Potenza.

What else can I tell you right now... My father, also Michael Angelo Mollica like myself... lives in Los Angeles, and is 48 yrs old. I was born in 1973. Yep, do the math... he was 19. : ) My aunt, Carmen Mollica Fernandez (dad's sister), lives here in San Diego as well... married to Armando Fernandez. They have two boys, my cousins Michael and Anthony, 20 and 23 yrs old.

I won't make this much longer right now... in case you don't get this email. You can also update your page with this new email as well as a silly little web page I put together. All the info you have now is obsolete. www.oocities.org/mike_mollica

His mother remained in Italy until her death in 1971. You have her listed as Angela, but I understood her name to be Angelina Maria. My grandfather was married to someone in New York before coming to Kansas City (I don't remember her name...for some reason, I thought it was Jane)..after coming to Kansas City, he married my grandmother Vera Silence (Rumbaugh). Papa was my stepgrandfather...my mother was twelve when he married my grandmother, but he was as close as any grandparent could be and I was his pride and joy :o) Guy Lombardo (the band leader) was his cousin and they looked just like twins. Rick, Just looking at your site: Information from Lipari Records, and I might have a few more pieces of the puzzle on the Fenech family side, as my great-grandfather was Gaetano Fenech of Salina, Italy (born March 10 1858, and husband of Rosalina Natoli (born 1871) of Lipari Islands - Santa Maria. They immigrated to New York City and had 12 children who settled in Wappinger Falls, NY and Fairfield County, Connecticut, and in other areas in New England. Their first child, Guiseppina Fenico (sp), was born on August 7, 1888 in the Borough of Manhattan. Gaetano was in the Marina Mercantile Italiana (1872-1882), and his papers read: figlio di (son of?) Subject: A Mollica relative

Hi Rick, I am the great-granddaughter of Concetta Mollica, born in Floridia, Sicily and died in Waterbury, Connecticut. I can tell you a lot about her decendants. My grandmother is still living and could tell you about her ancestors. I found your page at random when I was searching for family names. I didn't expect to find anything. I cried when I found my great-grandmother's name. Where did you get the info you have on her? Good work. The info is accurate.

Here are some other things I can tell you: During most of my life, she lived at 108 Manila St., Oakville, CT in Litchfield County. After her husband (1985) and oldest daughter died (198?), she moved in with my grandmother, Marion (DeLuca) Mauriello, at 156 Davis St. (the address you have listed on your Web site.) Concetta (Mollica) DeLuca and Joseph DeLuca had five children: - Marion DeLuca (my grandmother), (7/27/25) married Gilbert Mauriello (1/23/25). They had three kids, Gilbert Mauriello (2/10/49), Robert Mauriello, and Maryann (Mauriello) Massengill-Black. They have five grandchildren. - Carmela "Millie" DeLuca, married Charlie McDonald, who died shortly after they were married. They had one son, Steve McDonald, who was born after Charlie died. hey rick get rid of halberts interpretation of the mollica name. it is so far afield in any kind of scholarly meaning for our name. mollica means the inside of the bread or the soft part. crumb has nothing to do with our name nor does small portion. the original mollica was probably a soft hearted guy or easy going guy on his subjects. by the way halberts was ordered to stop doing business in the usa by a federal court. i like what your doing. keep up the good work. my name is ray mollica. i live in midland park, new jersey.

Subject: Mollica

My paternal grandmother Vincenza was a Mollica. I believe she was from Termina, Sicily. Her mother's name was Ricciardi. Grandma came to this country with her cousins, the Spella family and some of her younger siblings.

I am just starting my family research on the Mollica's because I am concentrating on my maternal grandfather's family (Bovelli). I was very interested in your research, however, and enjoyed your Web page. Looks like you have a great family. Grandma married Lorenzo Balistreri (my paternal grandfather)in Milwaukee, WI. I have those dates at home, along with the dates of her arrival in America. Her records are on the Ellis Island site. If you are interested in more details, I can get them to you. The Ellis Island records spell her name with one "l." But she always used 2 "l's." She had a sister named Santa and a brother nicknamed "Stoney." Stoney was a trainer for the Milwaukee Braves way back when. My dad owned a tavern for years, and I remember that many of the old Braves, e.g. Eddie Matthews, Bob Uecker used to come around with "Uncle Stoney." He was the family character. Great sense of humor. Had lots of children, but I never got to know them. I know grandma had other brothers and sisters, but I can't remember their names. If you have any relatives that fit that description, please contact me. Another Mollica family name was Barchitta. (Ricciardi, Barchitta, Spella, also spelled Spalla). Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Dear Rick. I'm very excited about what you're doing. My grandfather,Giovanni Mollica, came from Messina in Sicily. My grandmother, Anna Ardita, and he came to New Haven, Conn. and then to Brooklyn, NY. Most of their 10 children (8 girls and 2 boys) lived good, long lives. The youngest and only one left, is only 81 and is very sick at this time. My dad, Dr. John Mollica, died in 1996 at the age of 91. He had been a family doctor (making house calls etc.) for more than 50 years. Anne

Subject: Family Heritage

Hi Rick, I am actually a Jovanelly and recently visited with my aunt who is 89 and was born in Italy. Her mother, my grandmother was a Mollica (Stella) but was from Rome. The family tale is that the Mollica's owed a vineyard and at some point supplied the Vatican with wine. There is nothing to substantiate this story. The Jovanelly's which I believed was spelled Giovanelli were fisherman in Naples. We can not find the Ellis Island records of when our grandfather came over. Anyways, do you think there is a relationship here or is Mollica a common Italian last name?

Happy New Year. Karen

Subject: Can you Help?

Rick, I've been trying to find an old Air Force buddy of mine. His name is Joe Mollica and we worked K-9, Patrol Dogs, together. I'm sure his proper name is Joseph. He was from Philadelphia. I was stationed with him at Kadena, Okinawa in 1972 and 1973. Before then, I believe he was in Vietnam. I would be interested in finding him and sending an e-mail if he has an account. Can you help me?

Thanks. Chris
