Here's the Happy Ending story of Chassis (formerly Maggie):

Hi!! I just wanted to share and update on our happy ending. Back in March, Chassis, formerly Maggie, became a part of our family. She has brought us so much love and joy - not to mention attention!! Everyone has something to say about what a beautiful girl we have, how unusual she looks (dachshund/pitbull mix). Even the place I have taken her for grooming, they tell me she is their favorite and have even stayed after closing to accommodate us because they adore her so much.

Because of all the compliments, including from complete strangers on our walks, I decided to look on petfinder.com to see what other unusual dachshund mixes were out there. WE WERE NOT LOOKING for another dog!! I put in the exact information that had led us to your shelter and Chassis - female dachshund and our zip code. Up popped a picture of "Jill" a complete copy of Chassis - only much smaller as she was only four months old. We "joked" that I should go get her. We then realized maybe we weren't really joking. We discussed it, considering we live in a townhouse without a fenced in yard, and that we already had our "baby" in Chassis. She is a bit on the spoiled side and used to being the center of our attention. Would she even be OK with another dog around? Would we be OK with the ensuing chaos? (we had puppy sat our friends pup, a beagle/pitbull mix and it was insane with playing and wild with activity!!) I decided to call on "Jill" figuring that when I was first looking in the spring for a dog, half the time when I called the dog in question had already found a home. I figured that would make the decision for us. As luck would have it, "Jill" was still there and very much available. They told me they had rescued her from a kill shelter in Kentucky, as she was about to be put down at only four months old, apparently because of being part pitbull. I had to go look at her, at the very least. I brought Chassis with me, as she was my first priority. No matter how much I would have liked "Jill", if Chassis seemed opposed or bothered in any way, it was not going to happen. I also knew since it was at a place housing pets for the Humane Society that I probably wouldn't be able to take her right home, even if I wanted to.

We went to meet "Jill" and I was immediately taken with her. No surprise, I would want to save every puppy I saw if I could. We went into a room and in she came, full of as much, if not more, energy as Chassis. The two also hit it off immediately. I filled out the papers, "Jill" had to join our family. As luck would have it we ended up being able to take her home that same day, as someone there at the vet clinic was approved to decide on our application.

It has been a couple of weeks, and Chassis and Renny (Jills new name) play and have fun all the time. Sometimes they are like buddies or sisters. At night for sleeping, it's like mommy and baby - they will cuddle up together and Chassis has been caught licking Renny's head. When they are apart, they miss each other and are so excited when they see each other. Now we have TWO spoiled babies and we all couldn't possibly be happier.

I wanted to share this because although we didn't get our new baby from TLC, it all started with you guys, and I wanted you to know that Chassis is a bigger part of our lives than we could have ever imagined, had brought us more happiness and comfort that ever thought possible, and that now she has not just our love, but that of a sweet puppy who imitates her and idolizes her (extremely helpful when it comes to house training the pup!! monkey see, monkey do!!),

Thank you again for all you do! I hope this further update on Chassis brings further proof that you are appreciated and what you do is truly the work of angels!! I hope you enjoy the picture I am attaching of the girls in the back seat of my car as we prepared to go home together for the first time. I call it "me & mini me" hahaha

Thank you again!
