Here's the happy ending story of Hershey: Last Saturday I went to the TLC Shelter in search of a bunny companion for my 15 month old Dutch rabbit - Petunia. I have had her since she was little and we just built a huge outdoor cage (it is more like a bunny mansion) for her. I always knew that someday I would like to get her a friend. I was lucky enough to meet a small brown and grey bunny who was spending his time surrounded by the felines in the cat room. He was cowering down in his cage- looking a little apprehensive about all the commotion. Petunia and I were taken to the "getting to know you room" - they then brought in the rabbit.. He was a little smaller than my Petunia but that didn't matter to her. As soon as she ventured out of the carrier, he came up to her and gave her a kiss. They played for about an hour or so- I wanted to make sure that they could get along. They surpassed my wildest expectations! They are amazing together! He has a name now : Hershey. Partly because of the "kisses" he gives- and also because he looks like he has been swimming in chocolate milk! I want to thank the staff that helped me there on Saturday. They were very helpful and patient! Thanks to them, Hershey now has a happy home where there will be no lack of love or carrots !! Thanks again! I have attached a picture of him - Petunia is looking up at him. They are such a cute couple! When I get a picture of the two of them sitting still (yeah, that will happen!) maybe during nap time? I will send it along! Thanks again! Sara Wittenkeller |
