Here's the Happy Ending story of Marla (formerly Big Mama):

I adopted the lovely "Big Mama" this week from Tender Loving Care Animal Shelter in Homer Glen, IL.

I just adore her. She has already learned to walk nicely on the leash and is quite social. She loves my two cats and they love her.

I wanted to let you know that Marla (formerly "Big Mama") is doing very well. She loves Addison and Sheffield, my three year old cats. She is very gentle with them.

She loves to go on walks no matter what the outside temperature is. She learned quickly to walk on the leash and now enjoys riding in the car.

My 9 yr old neighbor girls took Marla to Petsmart with me where we had pink nail polish applied to her newly trimmed nails. She is stylin with her pink nails and matching pink collar.

The girls also picked out 3 new pink sweaters for Marla on a website to arrive Friday. We will send pictures of the "Fashionista" in her new apparel.

Thanks to all of you at TLC for taking care of my baby.

Shelley, Addison, Sheffield and Marla

Update 10/8/08

Marla is doing very well. This past spring Marla graduated from “family dog” training where she learned to sit, down, stay and walk on a leash politely. We walk 3 miles every morning through Twin Lakes Park. The park is full of bunnies and squirrels. Marla wears off a lot of energy with this walk.

Marla was quite the hero last week. She woke me up at midnight jumping off the bed, looking out the window and barking fiercely. I ran to the window and saw a man peering into the window of the garden apartment in the building next to our home. Marla was going crazy. I phoned 911 and they got the guy several blocks away. The women who occupy the three apartments in the building are all very grateful to Marla and love that she lives next door.

We stop every morning for treats at Bill & Edith’s, an 85 yr. old couple. Edith calls Marla her “therapy dog” and says she makes her day!

I hope you enjoy the photos of the “little princess”!
