Here's the happy ending story of Riley & Sam (formerly Jr. & Bud):

About a month ago, we had to have our beloved 17-year-old cat, Macy put to sleep. We were all so sad to see her go but knew that it was her time. Our two 12 year olds, Mallory & Jake, soon asked if we would ever get another cat. So, I decided to do some searching online and found TLC Animal Shelter. I kept going to the website and looking at all the adorable cats and kittens. I decided that on their last day of 6th grade, we would go after school and pick out a cat or kitten. Our cat, Macy was 5 years old when the kids were born so they had never had the experience of a kitten! Mallory kept saying that she wanted to find a playful one, Jake kept saying that he wanted a sweet affectionate one that would curl up on the end of his bed like Macy used to do everynight.

So, off we went to TLC to find the perfect cat to complete our family. There were lots and lots of kittens and cats. Two in one cage were especially captivating to us. So, we got both of them out (not realizing that they were siblings) and snuggled with them and fell in love with both of them. We asked the girl if she could find their "story" and she left to get their files. While she was gone, we were trying to decide which one we would take because they were both SO sweet! When she returned, she told us that they were siblings and needed to go together! She told us that their home had an allergic person moving in and that's why they had to be given up. I (being the adult there) tried to put them down and disconnect myself from them, asking to hold another one of the kittens. The girl was gone a long time and when she came back and asked which kitten we wanted to hold, we told her we would take both of the cats we were holding. I had called my husband on my cell phone and he had said that we really don't need two cats but that I needed to make the decision since I was "the adult there"!

On the drive home, Jr. (now Riley) howled and howled all the way. Bud (now Sam) cried quite a bit too. After we got them home, they were a little shy, trying to hide behind the TV and under the coffee tables. They were especially shy of our yellow lab Abby who just wanted to sniff them and make friends. Within a few hours, they were running the show. They are the most wonderful cats. We all love them so much. Riley has really taken to Mallory and pretty much follows her everywhere she goes. He even paws at the bathroom door when she goes in there. If she lets him in, he sits on the ledge of the bathtub while she takes a shower! She says sometimes she will get out and he will be curled up in the sink! This morning, she discovered that he will play fetch like a dog. She will throw his little mouse toy for him and he will go and get it, bring it back and drop it by her hand. If she doesn't throw it, he will nudge her hand! One morning, Mallory woke up to find an entire ball of yarn that she had in her desk winding all around her room, in and out of furniture... Needless to say, Mallory has her playful cat! He also sleeps with her and especially loves to sleep in her beanbag chair! He is quite the character!

Sammy likes to sleep with Jake and is such a little sweetheart! She likes to get as close to your face as possible. She loves to nudge your face and snuggle up close to your neck. She is definitely the sweet, calm affectionate one. She always has to jump up on our bed to say goodnight and good morning and we always know it's her because of her trademark mini meow/purr as she jumps up. Riley is also affectionate but really likes to play and get into mischief. We call them Rebel Riley and Sweet Sam! They love to lay at the top of the stairs and hang their paws out of the railing, keeping watch on what's going on down below. We have also discovered that while they love each other and will even sometimes clean each other, Riley gets a little jealous of Sam and will jump on her and bite her neck! He doesn't like it when she's getting all the attention!

We just want the previous owner of these wonderful cats to know that we will love them for years on end. We will take good care of them and never, ever give them away. Once we commit to an animal in our family, they are home for life. Thank you for sharing these beautiful, wonderful, sweet kitties with us!
