From the heart

Susan Uetz's had sent in a donation and had written this from the heart as to how the donation should be used: Please, For the one who is not the cutest, prettiest, strongest, or bravest, For the one who needs the last and most desperate chance... With all of my love and the biggest hugs... Susan - In hopes you rescue many many more....

Happy Endings made possible by YOU
We love to hear the "happy ending" stories of animals that have been adopted from TLC. It is because of your caring and generosity that these animals have been given a second chance to be adopted into a good home. Here are the happy endings of a couple of the animals that came from horrible circumstances to end up being a loved and cherished member of their adopted families.

Lucky's tale was very sad. She had come from an abusive home. She was taken out of her abusive home by court order. Her owner had hit her in the head with a hammer, and had she not been taken out of that situation, I am sure she would not be alive today. Jim and Patty Candilas who adopted her said, "Lucky was an appropriate name for her because she was rescued from an abusive home. But now I believe we are the lucky ones, because we are very lucky to have her. She was easy to train and even easier to love. Thank you TLC for all you do but mostly for Lucky."

Then there was Angel (the black and white kitty, pictured with her big brother, Calypso): My "Mom" found me at TLC, after she read the story on the website, I was the kitty who was thrown from a car window and rescued. I really love my new home, and my "Mom and Dad" say they can't imagine why anyone would want to get rid of me. Ken and Kathy Wynn said, "They can't say enough good things about the people at TLC, who were so kind and loving with me and all the other animals."

These Happy Endings are due in part to your caring, and generosity. Thanks for being a very important part of our efforts to help these animals. You can see how your caring pays off. Thanks!

VIP Members Teach Kids Safety First When it comes to animals

Our TLC VIP members are very special group indeed. Not only do they make pet visits to area senior residences, hospitals and nursing homes, in the summer several of the members volunteer time at the Lemont Safety Village too. The Safety Village program teaches young children how to behave when they come in contact with an animal, especially if it is an animal they do not know, in an attempt to prevent children from being bitten. This year the following VIP members helped with the program. Joan Wick with Shane, Clare Paskiet and Edie, Connie Bylsma and Jack, Judy Kunkel and Sullivan, Kathy Kanak with Levi Jean, Lottie Johnson with Ozzie, and Annie Coleman. These people do a great job and deserve a big round of applause.

Thanks!
A special thanks goes out to the Clare Marshall Foundation for the generous gift they made to help the animals at TLC. We also wish to thank the Joyce Hews Dennehy Charitable Fund for the generous grant their Foundation made to TLC. A great many animals will be helped because of these generous gifts.

Car Wash for TLC was Great

It takes more than a magic wand to change the Animal Care Clinic of Homer Glen into a car wash once a year. It takes a lot of hard work to be able to do this. We want to thank all the following people for putting in a busy day in the hot sun to raise money for the animals at TLC including: Diane, Jim, Cindy, and Sharon Endebak, Shawn Gallagher, Ryan, Kathryn and Kittler, Ed, Jenny and Kenny Frayne, Kylie, Nikki, Robby and Becky Gullett, Vicki Tryjefaczka, Terry and Ken Scott, Sam Gloodt, Brian Otto, Amanda Heinimann, Scott Weidner, Annie Coleman, Clare Paskiet and Denny Carter. We would also like to thank Vicky Cullen of On Time Designs for the great vinyl car wash sign they donated for the event. Of course it goes without saying how much we appreciated Dr. 0'Brien allowing this and also for his generous donation. A whole lot of suds and elbow grease netted $2,000.58 WooHoo!

A special thanks to our friends at the Clorox Corporation for their generosity, with products they have donated to help us maintain the cleanliness of the shelter.
