Thank You, Friends!

Simply Awesome
Ever wonder how it would feel to see your name up in lights? We could hardly believe our eyes when we saw the T.L.C. billboard located on Route 30 and Spencer in New Lenox. Through the efforts of Becky Demeo (who designed and got the ball rolling for the billboard), and the generosity of 3M, T.L.C.'s name is now up in lights. Becky who works in public relations and advertising thought this would be a great public awareness idea for the shelter, and help boost adoptions. We don't know how long T.L.C.'s ad will remain up, since there are other groups that 3M helps too, but if you would like to see it, take a drive out. Even though you can see the small prototype of the billboard Becky sent us on the T.L.C. Home page, it just isn't the same as actually seeing the real thing. When we drove out to see it, we sat in a nearby parking lot and just stared at it for 10 minutes. I guess we were feeling a little awestruck, but it's not every day you see your name in lights!

Garage Sale
We appreciate Sharon Hager holding a garage sale at her residence to benefit the animals at T.L.C. Thanks to one and all who donated usable items, and to Sharon, and her friends for the work they put into the sale to help homeless dogs and cats at the shelter. A total of $511.75 was made.

Canal Days Update
A smiling Margie Verlato is pleased with the results of T.L.C.'s Canal Days booth. Margie and Harry Verlato and Annie Coleman spent the entire weekend at Canal Days manning the booth in order to promote the shelter, and the abundance of wonderful animals waiting for homes. As if that weren't enough, this energetic threesome sold T.L.C. cookbooks, T-shirts and sweatshirts that were crafted and donated by Ginger Stanek. They also held a mini raffle with chances to win a $40 gift certificate donated by Chet's Barber Shop of Joliet and 4 baskets heaped with goodies made up by Becky Demeo. By the way the winners of the baskets were: Ray Acala of Lockport won the zoo basket, Kathy Albright of Lockport won the Shedd Aquarium Basket, Robin Smith of Joliet won the 3M Basket, Bob Baronowski of Lombard won the wine basket and Nancy Rodeherio of Lockport won the Chet's Barber Shop certificate. Through the hard work of Harry, Margie and Annie a total of $1329 was made for the shelter! Thanks again for all the time, effort and thought you three put in to make the T.L.C. Canal Days booth pay off!

Artist in Residence
Sandi O'Brien has been volunteering at T.L.C. for many years. Besides eagerly lending a helping hand whenever we needed, we tapped Sandi's writing talents to do some grants proposals for the shelter. We weren't aware of Sandi's artistic abilities, until she announced that she would gladly repaint the shelter's signs out front, if we didn't mind. Mind? The signs out front of the shelter were so weather beaten, that they were almost unreadable. Thanks to Sandi, the signs look great!

Can You Count Them For Us Please?
How much more can we ask? Not only do we ask you to do us the favor of saving the Homeless Homer proofs, and the Morris Proof, now we are asking if you can count them up for us too! All kidding aside, counting up the proofs takes quite a while, time that could be used taking care of the animals. I know how busy everyone is, but this would definitely help us out a bunch. Just write down the total for us. If you don't have time, please keep saving the proofs for us anyway, they help us get much needed monies for the care of the animals at the shelter.
