Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the shelter
The puppies and kittens had been running helter skelter.
They wanted everything perfect, things had to be right
For Santa was coming, he was coming tonight.
They set out hot cocoa, by a big comfy chair
And a tray full of cookies was also placed there.
Then my people friends told them it was time for bed
But they all wanted to stay up to see the man in red.
Then the puppies and kittens hurried to hide
They wanted to see Santa, they were all so wide eyed!
But the clock ticked on and the hour became late;
One by one they dozed off, they just couldn't wait.
I had put on my Santa suit just in case,
And a long white beard to help cover my face
For if any of them awoke I wanted them to see
Santa Claus instead of me.
It's not that we're intentionally trying to deceive
It's just hard for youngin's to perceive
That the real Santa lives inside your heart
But until they do, I'll just play the part.
But I must hurry now and put the gifts under the tree
So when the little ones wake they will see
There are Santas that care, like you and like me.
Speaking of Santas I just want to say
Thanks to each of you for making my day.
It's through the donations you have made to T.L.C.
That we can save puppies and kittens from misery.
No dogs having to go hungry, with no place to go
Or poor cats trying to keep warm, out in the cold and the snow.
But saying thanks doesn't seem hardly enough to say
For all you have done for the animals today.
So my wish for you, and your entire family too
Is that Santa bestows many gifts upon you -
The gift of happiness, the gift of love, along with many blessings from above...
Shhhh!
Do you hear what I hear?
Sleighbells?
No, it couldn't be, I'm too old to be believing in a chubby little man in a red suit. I could have sworn I just heard someone call out
Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!
