CALLING ALL CHICKEN LITTLE VOLUNTEERS

"ROOF!" "ROOF!" "ROOF!"
I wish Sam would be a little quieter, how's a guy supposed to take a nap around here with you making all that noise. So much for being nice and cozy and settling down for a long winters nap. Well I better get up and check what's going on because Sams barking up a storm, and that's not like her. Something must be the matter.
"ROOF!" "ROOF!" "ROOF!"
Sam what's the matter? I haven't heard you bark like that since the time you were rummaging through the garbage and got an empty dog food can stuck on your snout!
"ROOF!" "ROOF!" "ROOF!"
Sam would you quit barking already and tell me what's the matter? I can't help, if you don't tell me what's wrong.
That's what I have been trying to do, you just haven't been listening.
Sam I am listening, so please try to explain it one more time.
Okay I'll give it one more shot so please pay attention. "ROOF!"
There you go again, I can't make heads or tails out of that.
Good grief Shorty, I couldn't have made it any plainer than if it were the nose on your face! Why do you think you have a drop of water on the top of your head?
What drop of water on the top of my head, I thought I was only dreaming that.
Just run your paw across your head, that's not a dream.
Yikes my head really is wet!
That's what I've been trying to tell you! That water is from the roof!
How was I supposed to know that when all you kept saying was ROOF, ROOF, ROOF. You left out many important details.
That's what I was trying to tell you, the wind has done some major damage to the roof again, and peeled more shingles off, just as easily as our human friends can peel a banana!
Speaking about our human friends, someone has to break the bad news to them?
I sure don't want to be the one to have to tell them. Shorty, can you?
I really don't want to be the bearer of bad tidings either. I remember how upset our people friends were a couple of months ago when the shingles blew off on a different part of the roof. They had that fixed, but the last time this happened, I overheard them say the roof isn't going to last much longer and needs to be replaced. Also our people friends were just saying the acoustical ceiling in the kennels needs to be redone since it is falling down and needs some major work, then there are the gas bills, electric bills and the veterinary bills etc. When it rains it pours!
Shorty, even though there are lots of bills staring them in the face, we have to say something to them. If we don't, when it rains or as the snow melts as it's doing now we are going to be sitting in a real mess! On top of it, our people friends will have lots of important paper work ruined along with your favorite napping spot being soaked.
Yikes! I don't know which would be the bigger disaster, ruined paperwork or my favorite napping spot being soaked? I better take matters into my own paws and tell them. But before I break the bad news to them, perhaps we could get a special fund raiser going immediately, and let them know that we are trying to raise money to help.
Sounds like a good idea to me. How about I stand in front of the shelter saying "ROOF!" "ROOF!" "ROOF!", and Shorty you could get into a chicken little suit and say the sky is falling the sky is falling!
I have a better idea Sam you wear the chicken little suit and I'll work on this from another angle. Well, gotta run! I have work to do!
Love,

Shorty

PS.If anyone would like to stand in front of the shelter with Sam wearing a chicken little suit please contact me ASAP! Or if you prefer to skip the chicken little outfit and just send in a donation that would be great too!
