2. Mathew O'CONNOR b. c10 Oct 1799, and Ann GROVE. Mathew died 10 Jul 1847, St Helena Island.
Mathew enlisted in the St Helena Regiment. Rose to the rank of lieutenant. He was invalided out of the St Helena Regiment of Infantry in July of 1832 on full pension and allowances due to poor health and being subject to fits of epilepsy. In his resignation letter he asked to be stationed at Lemon Valley as Postmaster .. and he mentioned that he had a wife and seven (7) young children.

Matthew O'Connor, departed this life at 12.00 on Sunday night of the 10th of July 1847, aged 47 years, 7 months and 30 days. Leaving a widow and 7 children.
