Message From Melissa
by Barbara Philbrook

"Message From Melissa" is the title of a card  we've made,
and over the years it's been prayerfully displayed.

She portrayed an angel in her church play,
was it a dress rehearsal of that dreadful day?

She shared her love of Jesus with a lady in KFC,
I pray she lives in His love and lives on happily.

For as we drove on that fateful night,
a drunk driver and death were Melissa's plight.

We share this story as a legacy,
so that others may be spared this travesty.

So they may not feel what we do day by day,
having the life of a loved one snatched away.

That Melissa died this way is a tragedy,
but it happens to others continually.

So it's sharing this message that we strive,
in hopes of keeping some else's child alive.

Melissa is no longer here, she is gone,
but by sharing her message her memory lives on.

Please listen and take this message to heart,
if you don't drink now please don't start.

If drinking and driving is something you do,
please ask someone else to transport you.

You may spare another child's life,
saving their loved ones pain and strife.

Listen closely as we share Melissa's Message with you,
and know that saving others is what we seek to do.
