Misguided
by Barbara Philbrook

Father I was misguided somehow I'd been led astray, I had mistakenly
thought that to get to heaven I could earn my way.

Your word says that the way to You, of which there is only one,
is through our believing in your precious Son.

I was told as a child that to get "Home" there was a job for me to do,
I spent so many years trying to find just what job I should do for you.

Oh I'm not complaining, the road I've traveled has taught me much,
and there have been so many lovely people with whom I've come in touch.

I've met legalists who believe that the law is the most important part,
Lord I pray you will soften each and every heart.

I've met people who thought once they prayed that they could never be lost,
that prayer earned them salvation andthere was no further cost.

There are people who think there is a stairway to climb,
earning their way up, one level at a time.

There are so many different beliefs, it's amazing  to me,
and yet Jesus, your Son says it so clearly.

"I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father but by Me",
just open up your Bible and look in John 14:6, it is there to see.

We can not change our sinful condition we are unable to,
once we invite Jesus in He starts all of the renovating that is due.

Read in Corinthians 15:31, it states clearly there,
we must surrender or die daily to God in prayer.

Misguided once but now on the right track with you,
may others also hear your invitation and accept it too.
