Revelation 1:9 - 18

John - The Disciple. His Reaction When He Faces Jesus In This Vision.

Revelation 1:9 - I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:10 - I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
Revelation 1:11 - Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
Revelation 1:12 - And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
Revelation 1:13 - And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and fastened at the waist with a golden belt.
Revelation 1:14 - His head and His hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and His eyes were as a flame of fire;
Revelation 1:15 - And His feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and His voice as the sound of many waters.
Revelation 1:16 - And He had in His right hand seven stars: and out of His mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
Revelation 1:17 - And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
Revelation 1:18 - I am He Who lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

This is a beautiful passage of Scripture! Here are a few comments.

1 John 1:1 - "He was from the beginning; Whom we have heard; Whom we have seen with our eyes; Whom we have looked upon; and our hands have felt; accompanying the Living Word;" - John walked the earth with Jesus, ate with Him, touched Him, contemplated Him, sang with Him, prayed with Him, watched Him heal, heard Him teach and spent time in the mountains, countryside and cities with Him, yet, here we see in John's own words, he fainted with fright when He encountered Jesus in this vision of Revelation. Revelation 1:17 - "And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the First and the Last:"

There was no frivolity or flippancy evidenced as John faced Jesus Christ. He fainted! There was no pride or arrogance. He fainted!

If John fainted when facing the Glorified Jesus Christ, after fellowshipping personally with Jesus Christ when He was on earth, what will your reaction be when the Day of His Wrath comes and He is seen by the whole world sitting on His throne? Revelation 6:16,17 - "And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him Who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:" "For the great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" Will you try to run and hide? Or will you lift your arms in praise to Him and fall on your face in adoration and love?

Isaiah 6:1,5

Isaiah's Reaction When He Faced The LORD In A Vision.

Isaiah 6:1 - In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. Isaiah 6:5 - Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of Hosts.

No pride on Isaiah's part, only a feeling of uncleanness.

Job Had The Same Feeling When He Encountered The LORD.

Job 40:3 - Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
Job 40:4 - Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer Thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

Job 42:5 - I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
Job 42:6 - Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

AT YOUR FEET WE FALL

Written by Doug Fellingham

At Your feet we fall, mighty risen Lord,
as we come before Your throne to worship You.
By Your Spirit’s power You now draw our hearts,
and we hear Your voice in triumph ringing clear:
‘ I am He that liveth,
that liveth and was dead.
Behold I am alive
for evermore.’

There we see You stand, mighty risen Lord,
clothed in garments pure and holy, shining bright;
eyes of flashing fire, feet like burnished bronze,
and the sound of many waters is Your voice,
‘I am He that liveth....

Like the shining sun in its noon-day strength,
we now see the glory of Your wondrous face:
once that face was marred, but now You’re glorified;
and Your words, like a two-edged sword have mighty power.
‘I am He that liveth....
