When European settlers firs reached the great lakes they told enchanted stories of water so clear and pure you could see fifty feet to the lake bed, and catch hundreds of fish in a matter of hours on a "normal" day.
Unfortunatelly over the past century we have dumped our sewage into the lakes, introduced harmful non-native species, and ruin their natural beuty all in the name of profit and progress.
But not all is bad news, under new laws and regulations regarding the lakes they have begun to rebound and flourish although there is still so much that needs to be done.
