Spring's First Kids

This Poem is about Fancheon and Serepta who are the twin girls of Freckles and JimBob....Freckles was one of our first 4 goats..we got the four of them at once from a local petting zoo... 


              


          


  White             Glistening        
       the sun awakens
        to embrace the blanket laid out
                the cold night before
   rooster announces his new day
                  sparrows  dance around the glitter
             ...searching for their morning meal
                        Another winter-wonderland
                                 cherished by some
        passed over by others               
                        nothing new to the elders
            cold ears and       breath clouds
                                   about their noses
           Mangers with icicles
                     ...and crystal covered hay
                      then
    four bright eyes
                         atop two perfect noses
               peer out from within
                       a cozy barnyard hide-a-way
          ....Untouched and Unaware....
     Beyond the gate
             mama pushes forward to start her day
                         Eight tiny hooves touch
        ice diamonds...for the very first time

                with wide-eyed innocence
                a pink nose touches the sparkles

Hip
             Pirouette
                      Pure and White
                         as the glistening snow....
              mama calls...

                         tiny trails left behind
     Nu dge         Bum p
         hungry       pink mouths instinctively know
            warm tummies fill up 
                                 Mama talks softly
     two little tails    pink and white
                               flick to and fro
            with each creamy mouthful
      Hop
Hip
            Pirouette
                  Sun warming their ears
    Dance  here
                              Prance there
         Innocent and unaware
                              Next  Spring......
              their  pink and white kids
