Hi there: I've been searching for a good site to chat with other Dane owners. Found yours so here goes. We purchased our first Dane ever this summer. Her name is Lucy and she is now 9 months old. She weighs just over 100lbs and is doing great. We are not going to show her so had her spayed at 6 months. She is the love of our life and gets along great wi h our 5 year old female husky. I am wondering about growth - she stands approx. 30 inches at the shoulder now. How much longer will she grow? She is actually starting to fill out now. We did not crop her ears. Also, she is eating approx. 6.5 - 7 cups a day dry food. She is fed twi e daily. Does this seem about right. She probably has 2-5 extra pounds on right now but with our winter, the extra layer is required. Any comments from you would be great. Can you advise of some Dane chat groups I could participate in? I don't have a great dane,but I am dying to get one, I live with my parents who breed yellow labs. We have two of them, so a great dane is not possible right now. My dogs father weighed 225 pounds.His father's name was Bourus.Brutus already weig s about 140!And he is only 10 mths old.He is not fat either! We love him to death. But he is my little baby. love your site i have a blue merle dane who was given to me by a breeder who couldn't sell him because of his color. He is the best dog I have ever had. Disposition is excellent, Ihave only heard him growl once in his life, and we live in a multiple dog ousehold. I'm having a problem with her,I also have two poodles and a choc lab. The dane really gets mean when one of the poodles gets in my lap if i give her something to eat,she is worring me that she is going to hurt the poodle.What should I do? tha is the only time she gets that way,any other time they play together fine.hte dane does not do this with the other poodle,and she plays well with the lab,to well sometimes. Formerly had a Blue Merle Dane named Buddy in the family. He was the absolute best dog in the world. We acquired him at three weeks of age and had to bottle feed him. He was one of fifteen in the littler and his mother had stepped on his tail and broken i . Because we got him so young amd bottle fed him, he grew up thinking he was a lap dog. Actually, I think he thought he was human! He was so much fun. I am interested in getting one for my brother and sister-in-law for their ten year wedding anniversay in August. They ahve a house with thirteen acres and three kids. They formerly had Buddy for a while and wre extremely happy with him. Do you have any idea where the nearest breeder is from either Hermiston, Oregon or Corning, CA?

Yes, I own an Albino Dane. Her name is Molly and she is also very deaf and her sight isn't the best either. She is a very loving and if I do say so myself the best trained dog that know. It was very hard bringing her up, she was a day old when I choose he so the deafness wasn't apparent. But that doesn't matter as her cool blue eyed stares are all that are needed to keep people away and wary. Great page, see you.

Great Page! Mordecai is my dogs name. He is a true friend. I bought him from some people that had him chained to a trailer. He was so malnourished that he could not walk up the 3 steps to my porch. I've loved the elegant look of Great Danes for quite some time know. I'm not familiar with the names of each breed, but I have taken to the grey Danes, tan Danes, and especially the I believe they are called harlequin (I appoligize if I misspelles it), t e white ones with the black markings. Although I would be ecstatic just to own any of the handsome breeds. If you can give me any information about care and maintanance, costs, and things to consider before purchasing one of these dogs I would greatly a reciatte it, as I would not want to purchase one if I couldn't be fair to it and provide all the attention one may perhaps need. Im aware that these dogs require alot of exercise. I am student but I love dogs and I take my room mates dog which is a pure bread Boxer for long walks all the time. Sandy is our 2nd Great Dane.Our first was Dutchess. I reccomend this breed to anyone. They train easy and are well behaved and mellow.They take to family life and become members.Both Dutchess and Sandy were trained to stay in the yard with very little eff rt on my part.I reccomend the females because they are less hyper and more family oriented.They are truly gentle but they add a great deal of security to the home.The only drawback to a Great Dane that I have found is we cannot have a coffee table.The t il will clean one off in milisecond.One other thing don't let a Great Dane get heavy(fat) it seems to cause them health problems. That is what I feel happened to Dutchess.She died at the age of 8.Thats for letting me say a few words. I am a large dog love and Great Danes are number one in my book. But don't let my Malamute here that.

Great Danes are truly the "gentle giant". Dusty is our second Dane. Our first was Sundance,a black and white Dane. We lost him in a tragic accident at 8 years old. He was so much a part of the family, I missed him deeply and knew I wanted another Dane. T ey are gentle, loving, & mellow. Yet you feel safe when at home alone or out walking them at night. As you have noticed by now, I own an undesirable color of Dane, but the first time I saw him I fell in love. I have been told by many breeders that he is not a Dane and should have been put to sleep. He is very loving and the gentlest of animals I have ver come to know. He has become a member of the family and a true friend. The first time you are sad and feel his giant loving head in your lap you soon forget all the mutant jokes that you have heard from the local breeders. Please if at all possible c uld you send the message that color is not all that important when you want companionship, and not a show dog. I understand that these colors should be spayed or neutered but why put to sleep after all it is not the dogs fault he is the color he is! I l ve my mutant!!!

My husband bought Brandy for me as a Birthday present the only drawback is waiting for her to leave her mother. I haven't seen her in two weeks because she is so far away. I had 15 Danes when I was about 13 or 14 years old and wouldn't have any other bre d of dog and it took us a good 2 years to find the right dane for us. I am got my Great Dane Syruss for Christmas. I love him very much. He runs through the house and chews up just about everything. I am so glad that I chose a Great Dane. He is the best dog ever!
