Russell's father was James Kyl and he died sometime in the late 40's or early 50's. James had a Dad, also named James who would have been class of 1863 at VMI and his wife would have been Virginia Scott Kyle. She went to Hollins College. Our family line goes back to John Kyle who emig ated to Albemarle County Va. in 1649 or so from County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. Does this fit anywhere into your all's family line? |

One of his children, Horace Greeley Kyle, (also of Chisolm county, Kansas) was my grandfather. H.G. Kyle was a ansas State senator. I'm in Canada by accident -- one anecdotal story that can't be proved was that Jamie Kyle immigrated with two adolescent brothers in the 1840's to Virginia, that one drifted toward Mississippi, that Jamie went to Illinois and later t Kansas, and that one brother stayed in Virginia. Years ago, I met a "Dr. Pete Kyle McCarter", from Mississippi, who had no certain knowledge of his Kyle ancestry, but he had been raised with the same anecdote. |

According to census his parents were from Delaware I feel he could be the great grandson of John Kyle who arrived in New Castle, Delaware in 1720, from Scotland. John B. Kyle's grandfather could have been Samuel Kyle who was born in Scotland in 1715 and died in Delaware in 1785..Samuel had four sons, Joseph, Robert,Thomas and James. Furthur back was Wesley Harrison Kyle, North Carolina. Apparantly Wesley had brothers William, Christopher and a 1/2 brother James. Sisters Emily, Eliza(Jasper Texas), S rah. My great grand father was W.W. Kyle, one of the land owners that Spindletop was discovered in Beaumont, Texas. Early 1900's. His father was Dr. O.M. Kyle from Florida. |
