GAMBLE FAMILY HISTORY
As told by John Wesley Gamble
On March 4, 1937 at the age of 79 John W. Gamble began to write a history of his life. The impetus was the loss of his last living siblings, Rebecca and Joseph. Not only does he tell us important family data, but also he brings to life the past. Information about traveling across the country from North Carolina in 1850 in covered wagons to Indiana. And sadly how his two oldest brothers never returned from the Civil War. He speaks lovingly of his mother who raised him and his 9 siblings alone after his father died when he was age two. He writes affectionately and respectfully about his wife Malvina and their four children William W., Walter James, Laura Mae, and Charles Oliver.

This site is dedicated to the memory of my father, Robert H. Gamble, who by his example of loving dedication to my mother, Adeline Fehringer Gamble, taught me there is nothing in this life as important as your family.
