California Gold Rush Day
Gold Rush Day is a big event at the kids school as a 4th grade project to help learn a little about California history.
| Volunteers come in and show the kids how to pan for gold and they get to try it themselves. The volunteers also brought in different types of equipment that are used in areas where there is no water. This machine to the right is called a "dry sifter" . | |
Everyone dressed up like they might have in 1849 and there was music to set the mood.
| The kids tried their hand at making paper. | |
They also were able to dip their own candles
| There was even a postoffice where they were able to send and receive notes from their friends. |
Jen even got in on the action for a few minutes. She is looking forward to when she is in 4th grade and gets to do her own Gold Rush Day..
