Some Simple Suggestions On How You Can Become Involved In The Prolife Movement
1.
Putting pro-life envelope stickers on *all* of your outgoing mail
-- on the front of the envelope, preferably placed right below
your return address or alongside it, depending on available space
on your envelope.
A good source
for these is:
Victory
Won
P. O. Box 101
Davenport, NE 68335-0101
2. Putting pro-life bumper stickers on your car(s)
The above source
provide these as well.
3. Using pro-life checks -- We get ours from
Life
Checks:
Box 1057
Park Ridge, IL 60068
(847) PRO-LIFE (That's 776-5433.)
4. Inserting some pro-life literature in your outgoing
mail, such as bill
payments -- Victory Won has some good things for this purpose --
little but
very informative cards (smaller than an index card) and also
small
brochures -- They're all small enough that they won't increase
the cost of
your postage for a regular mailing.
Onto bigger "steps:"
6. Go to the annual March for Life in Washington, DC each
year. People
from *all over* the country go every year, and it is a great way
to show
solidarity in the pro-life movement and to witness to the
politicians who
need (whether or not they know it) to *see* our presence.
It's also a great
morale-booster.
7. Participate in your county's Life Chain during October
of each year
(Respect Life Month).
8. Stay on top of pro-life and pro-abortion legislation,
both nationwide
*and* in your state, and write letters *and* make phone calls
accordingly to
your representatives concerning your position. Letters have
the most impact
on politicians by far (from among phone calls, e-mails, etc.),
but it helps
to make the phone calls also. ALSO, whenever you notify
your
representatives, *each individual* person age eighteen and over
in your
household should do so separately. In other words, don't
sign a letter "Mr.
& Mrs. John Smith." Rather, Mr. Smith needs to
send his own letter and Mrs.
Smith, her own letter. Each voice is a vote. (A good
way to stay informed
on nationwide issues is to subscribe to the National Right to
Life newspaper
or to donate some money to American Life League. Actually,
you'll probably
do better with American Life League, because it fights for
protection of
*all* human life, and thus fights contraception, especially
abortifacient
contraception. A good way to stay informed on issues
pertaining to your
state specifically would be to donate some money, even if it's
just a little
bit, to your state's branch of National Right to Life.
9. You could volunteer at a crisis pregnancy center.
10. Join your parish pro-life committee and *make a
difference*.
11. Try to find and join a local pro-life organization that
you could work
for/with.
12. Boycott companies, stores, charities, and any other
organizations that
support abortion. A good source for a listing of various
companies, with
everything from banks to steel, etc., that support abortion is
available
from the St. Antoninus Institute. Its address is as
follows:
St. Antoninus Institute for Catholic Education
in Business
4110 Fessenden St., NW
Washington, DC 20016
13. Write letters to the editor of your newspapers.
*Keep on writing*,
even if you don't see your letter published.
16. Donate money to pro-life charities, or one pro-life
charity that you
think is most effective.
17. Wear the little "Precious Feet" lapel pin
and/or the pro-life "rose for
life" on your coat lapel, scarf, pocketbook, etc.
18. Speak up and stand up for the truth -- even if in
everyday
conversations with family, friends, etc. When the
opportunity presents
itself (i. e., somebody says something that goes against what you
know to be
true), in gentleness, humility, and all charity, speak the
truth! Silence
kills. Speak out against abortion.
19. Write to Priests for Life and ask for a copy of the
flyer it has on
dozens of ways to "be pro-life." The address
is:
