Here are a few
facts about the Chinese Shar-Pei as a breed to help you in making the decision
of which pup may be best suited to your lifestyle. Chinese Shar-Pei
come in two accepted coats. The horse coat and the brush coat. There is
also the lovable, huggable bear coat but you won't see the bear coats in
the show ring since it is a major fault. Shar-pei are generally
low maintenance dogs. Regular baths, nail clipping and ear cleaning and
brushing for a healthy coat are all that is usually required. Chinese Shar-Pei are a
relatively low energy breed of dog. Any solid color
is acceptable in the show ring but they do also come in flowered, patterned,
and even brindle. The Canadian Standard
calls for a "preferred size" of 18" to 20" though they do come smaller
