During the Civil War (1861 - 1865) there were many Presnell and Presley men from East Tennessee, who responded to their call of duty. One of the greatest tragedies of this war is that families were divided in their loyalty. Brothers often joined opposing sides and fought their own flesh and blood.
In November 1998, I personally copied the following data from the Confederate Records that are on microfilm at the Tennessee State Archives in Nashville, TN. This is
