Special Education

I am teaching 7th grade resource this year and have the pleasure of working with 25 wonderful students.

Autism has always been an interest area of mine.  I worked with autistic young adults when I was 12 (21 years ago) and have had an interest in that area ever since.  I have had a couple of autistic children in my room over the last 4-5 years and I truly enjoyed working with them.  I have also been trained in the TEACH method.  I have found parts of it to be useful with some of my students.  All kids are different, however, and TEACH, like anything else, is not a magic bullet. 

I will be updating and adding to this section of my site as often as possible.  I would appreciate hearing about any ideas, suggestions, of experiences you might wish to share.
