Inherited Diseases and Traits

in the Phillips Family

This page is still in process and additions are welcomed to be added. Email me, giving your name, email address and pertainent information to be included on this page.

PROSTATE CANCER- A number of male members of the Phillips lines have passed away due to Cancer of the Prostate in as many as four generations that are documented. If you are a member of the Phillips clan, are male, and over the age of 40, it is very important that you see your physician regularly. The new blood test for the disease which is available should be done, as it can determine prostate cancer more quickly usually than the usual tests performed. Many of our lines lived to "ripe old ages", those that died prior to age 60 and man that died in their 70's were usually because of prostatic cancer.

HEIGHT- Many adult members of the Phillips clan are tall; women over 5'8" and men well over 6', muscular, and heavy set. Thick thigh muscles (hams) appear to also be an inherited trait, as are a certain appearance across the eyes, which although is hard to describe, is quite easily recognized.

CATARACTS- Cataracts do seem to proliferate the older adult Phillipses.

MYLODYSPLASIA- This is an occurance on which I would like more information from members of the Phillips clan. If you have a family member that has been diagnosed with this disease, regardless of age of onset, please email me immediately. Lives can be saved, perhaps, with this information.
