In the Name of God Amen The Six day of April, One thousand Seven Hundrend and Eighty five, I, William Cook of the State of North Carolina in the County of Bertie, Planter, being of Perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore, calling to mind the moralty of my body and knowing that it is apointed for all men once to Dye do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. That is to Say Principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul into the hand of God that gave it and my Body I recommnd to the earth to be buried in a Desent and Christain maner at the Discretion of any Executors nothing doubting, but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the Same againe by the allmighty power of God and as touching Such Worldly Estates Wherewith it hath Pleased God to Bless me in this life,

I give demise and Dispose of the Same in the following manner and first I lend to my beloved Wife Mary Cook my Dwelling house and attached Land belonging to it and one feather bed and furniture and third parte of the rest of my Estate During her life but if She should marry I lend her nothing.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Son John Cook one hundred acres of Land Lying and being on the Deep Branch and up the fort Branch to the little Branch be the Same more or less to him and his heirs for ever

also I give and bequeath to my Son Joel Cook all the land upwards from the Little Branch belonging to the Plantation and the Plantation withit also me feather bed and firniture and two ewes and lams and one .. Iron and one dish two Plats one bason to him and his heirs for ever.

Also I give and bequeath to my Son Demey Cook five shillings Cash to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my Son Reuben Cook five shilling Cash to him and his heirs forever

Item I give and bequeath to my son William Cook five shillings Cash to him and his heirs forever also at the Death or marriage of my beloved wife all Remainder Part of my Estate to be Equally Divided between my Son John Cook and my Son Joel Cook also my Will is that my son Joel Cook Should have all my Stock of Hoges my Will and Desire is that if either John Cook or Joel Cook Should Be without an heir of thir body the living brother of thses two Should have the Land of the Deceased ... one I do hereby Constitute and ordain this to be my last will and Testement In .. whereof I have here unto Set my hand and Seal the Day and Date above written I also Constitute make and ordain two Sons John Cook and Joel Cook my whole Executors of this my Last Will and Testement.
