Here
are a few of my poems.
THE
SONG OF THE UNICORN
Out
of the forest
I
turn to see
The
strangest face
Looking
at me
A
horn of gold
A
mane of silk
A
coat of Ivory
As
smooth as milk
Theboldness
of her golden horn
The
glimmer of pride in her diamond eyes
There
stood the magical unicorn
As
beautiful as the sunrise
The
mysterious flames
That
burns in her eyes
Her
elegant prance
And
her haunting cry
Could
it be true
This
legendary Thing
Is
the last one left
With
a heart that sings?
Without
warning
She
dissapeared
WIth
the oncoming morning
TO
be seen she feared.
I
listen closly
I
start to hear
The
song of the unicorn
Echoing
in my ears.
MOONLIGHT
MADNESS
The moon
so high in the sky
The stars
twinkle as they rush by
Their breath
steaming the cold winters air
They went
galloping by without a care
They pranced
and danced through the snow
Kicking it
up as they go
The cold,
crisp December air
Did not bother
these young mares
They were
given the power of flight
As they galloped
into the night
Their hoofprints
imprinted in the snow
All reflecting
in the moons bright glow
The angels
of heaven graced these horses
With strange,
powerful unseen forces
The angels
of glory looked down below
And saw these
horses in thesnow
The angels
of pride
Watched these
horses so smoothly glide
As if they
had wings,
Oh the joy
these horses bring
The horses
call as if in song
Piercing
the night like a chinese gong
But through
the silence of thenight
These horses
have taken flight
In the moon
and stars bright light
Without a
trace of sadness
In this moonlight
madness.
FAREWELL
TO A FRIEND
There was
a day
When I felt
like sighing
There was
a day
When I felt I was dying
There was
a day
When I had
to cry
There was
a day
When I said
good-bye
There was
a day
I thought
would never end
That was
the day
I said farewell
to a friend.
THE FINAL
GOODBYE
As I stare
Into the
black sky
I realize
how much I care
For the horse
that had died
I see an
image of Ami
Flying through
the sky
O my beautiful
Ami
Why did you
have to die?
Though I'm
not very good
With saying
long good-byes
BUt I know
that I should
And I know
that I'll try
I go to your
empty stall
The tears
come rolling out
I know I
must say, onec and for all
These word
s I need not to shout
I will not
forget you
And that
is no lie
But the time
has come for me
To say my
final good-bye
SHATTERED
DREAMS
Every time
I come so close
To getting
the thing I want the most
Things are
shattered right then and there
I've learned
that life is never fair
Things are
never what they seem
They are
only shattered Dreams
MY AMI
Whisper of
hooves
On the grass
soft nose
sleek neck
3 white socks
and a blaze
I turn to
see my Ami there
But I am
so alone
I smell the
sweet scent of apples
On my cheek
I turn to
see
But noones
there
I see an
empty stall right there
Old hay and
bedding
I expect
to see
A chesnut
face
But nothing
is to be
I hear a
gallop sound overhead
and hoofprints
in the clouds
But I can
not see the pretty face
But I know
she is there
(written
by Jen Wahl)
(the poems
"Farewell toa Friend, " "Final Good bye" and "My Ami" were written after
a favorite horse died.)
THAT GENTLE
TEAR
I saw the
look
Of the little
girl
Whose hands
shook
As if she
were holding a pearl
I saw her
on the back
Of that arabian
mare
sitting
tall and proud
The wind
blowing her hair
I saw the
gleam
In her eyes
I heard her
laugh
and not cry
This little
girl
Who was born
into strife
Looked up
then
and saw a
new life
SHe saw a
future
That was
bright and clear
That's when
I saw
That gentle
tear
A tear of
happiness
A tear of
love
A tear of
hope
And a horse
named Dove
I remember
When she
got off
The words
she said
sweet and
soft
"Thank you
Dove
You're my
best friend
I will love
you
until we
come to an end"
(this poem
was written about a beautiful horse who has helped many children in their
time of needing a friend)
THAT SPECIAL
TOUCH
The look
of happiness
In her small
eyes
The love
that will never die
On the broad
back
Of an Arabian
mare
or
a Quarter horse
that's there
The hope
in her mothers smile
that hadn't
been there for a while
The one they'd
given up hope on
Had been
driven to respond
To the creak
of the saddle
The smell
of the horse
The feel
of the leather
The mane
likke a feather
The one who
cried when they took her off
The first
time she ever made a sound
The dim look
That turns
bright
The one who's
driven
To a new
hight
The one who
improves
When she
saw no light
The miracle
of miracles
The horse
(waritten
by Jen Wahl)
(this poem
was written about handicaped riding)
THE CRY IN
THE NIGHT
I am facing
a wall of darkness
There is
nothing to be seen
Unknown things
creep and crawl
With eyes
much to keen
I trip and
stumble
I tumble
and fall
only to find
There was
nothing there at all
There is
too much quiet
In this dark,
dark night
No one could
deny it
That something
was not right
Then a noise
rang through my ears
A hideus
wail, piercing the night
That confirmed
all my fears
All my feelings
of my fright
Then a moon
peeked through the clouds
giving off
a little light
Then I turned
to see
What had
made this cry in the night
TO my surprise
it was nothing
At least
nothing I could see
For that
cry in the night
Had only
come from me.
